HELP!! Engine making noise, battery losing volts and overheating

So I put a crank (stock) in over the winter and new valve springs, Carpenter springs. Since I reinstalled the engine I would start it in the garage and did a couple heat cycles. After shutting it down it would boil over out of the overflow tank, both times. I thought it was vapor bound, air in the system. So then I took it to the track.... I noticed it would still overheat, also I noticed a noise started up. The noise sounded like a fan was running and hitting (but the fan was not running). It would only make noises on a twist of the throttle or on a launch then goes away. The hotter it got the louder it got. I then noticed the battery draining quick. Got the bike out of the trailer battery was 12.3 volts, after 3 runs it was down to 9.8. Bike wouldnt start. tried charging the battery, had 12.8 with charger on, tried starting it and will not even turn over. Any ideas what could be wrong?
No oil light on, noise does not sound like its in the engine, checked checked clutch basket, water pump and oil pump gear, all llok good. Im thinking something with the starter or alternator???? HELP!!!!!!!

I would start with Head gasket and volt regulator

I dont think head gasket, no leaks, e.t. stayed the same as last year. voltage regulator could be part of the problem.

The spilling might be a faulty rad cap i upgraded mine to a 20psi, or air in the system..if none of those then headgasket...does the bike sucks the overflow bottle back?

I'd be pulling the alternator off for a look. Sounds really weird to have so many seemingly not related problems. Could a one way bearing on the starter drive be bad and keeping the starter engaged all the time?

I am going after the alternator in a couple hours, that would make sense. bolt could have broke or loosened and shifted the magnets or whatever causing a noise and then it would not charge correctly... At least im hoping!!!!

Opened up alternator cover and low and behold the flywheel loosened up and was just hanging on the crank. Found my problem!!! Thanks all for your comments.

There is a very specific technique for installing the rotor. I strongly urge that you follow it. Make sure the taper is perfect, inside and out.
What did you find with the overheating?

Tom
