As it was in 2006
Hi All,
Well I did it, I purchased a 2012 ZX-14 and like 2006 I'm keeping my 2009 VFR 800 as my daily ride . Allow me to start with WOW this is every bit as nice as the GEN 1 yet different. I think there will be a small trip in the future, when it happens I'll be sure to post the pictures.
I ride my bike as the average person drives their car, I don't Modify my bikes much but this bike is already somewhat customized with the HID Lamps and a slight color modification to the body work.
My plan is to ride the VFR til it gets into the high 80,000's or so then switch to the ZX as my commuter so I don't plan on putting more than maybe 5K a year immediately but my hope is to one day have over 100K on this puppy (I know famous last words).
Notes I love the temp gauge I did not realize just how cool this bike is compared to the VFR. I did ride this puppy in the cold and the temp never got above 141 degree F. Coarse that engine does keep the rider plenty warm. The VFR has been known to sit at 221-228 F while traveling 70-80 MPH.
More to Come

Saturday am could work perfectly as I am planning to head over to Tampa to see some friends in the am so stopping in Lakeland would be a nice segway. PM me your cell and I will do the same. I will try not to be jealous of your...brand new R.
Looking forward to it,
Victor (aka Leo)

Hello Lee,
Yea I have to admit that I am a fan of both the Red and White. I was considering the 2009 Monster ZX-14 prior to finding this puppy. Something in the back of my mind kept saying, "Your burned out with the VFR so your going to buy a 2009 ZX-14, you know just like the 2006 you owned in 2006".
The 2012 is a very different bike from my 2006, yet it is very similar. No doubt the 2012 is quicker, I don't remember having to feather the clutch this much on the 2006.

Leo,
Great advice.
On the front forks, (which were like a sponge) I am one level above your setting and the tire pressure are per your winter settings. WOW what a difference this has made, it really is like a new bike.
Thanks for everything

Rob:
No problem. The key is to have everything in the set up working together so going firmer than the pretty soft OEM settings front and rear on the 14r helps alot. Once everything is doing that, you have much less squat at the rear when you are on it hard and virtually no dive up front when you need to brake hard. The PSI tweak gives you both a better ride with much firmer settings and more grip.
Just nothing like being confident in what your bike can/will do consistently and....predictably especially with the power these bikes make so you can stay in...control. You didn't say how your rear settings were tweaked, but I am glad to see you happy with how your bike is working for...you now.
Enjoy that Sunday morning ride today !!!!!
