There were 250 tech cards sold. By what I heard about the same for Bradenton. To me, looks like. Bradenton could have had a couple more.

Have you missed the argument between SGMP and the manufactures?

there were only 4 real street bikes in bradenton the other pro classes were small as well. the fued between sgmp and mfg cup should have been resolved better for the sport. i was at bmp and there was some great racing i bet it was the same at sgmp its just to bad it wasnt all at one venue or the other

By seeing paperwork between the two parties, I can't side with the manufactures.
The biggest thing I don't think people understand is, the manufactures make a living off selling us parts? Right?
The racetracks make a living off of races. Right?
So why is it fair for the manufactures to take home more money (with very little overhead) and the track pay ALL expenses and take home the smaller amount of half the money? Doesn't make sense....

i've seen this work before .. i've seen tracks rented out and the renter(promoter) have a huge success and the track say. hey we will up his rent next event or take over his show .. its a gamble for the promoters ..i've seen events that had no success but the promoter still have to pay the track the full rent thus losing his ass .. in the end greed always ruins everything

Your right. Greed has ruined a awesome thing we had going.
As for the manufactures, if drag racing gets worse the main people its going to hurt is them!

Don't forget that the Manufactures stepped up once AMA went belly up. Also any organization that runs a series such as this does all the promoting. They bring all the people to said track for each event. They cover the winnings for each event. If nobody shows or rain sets in they loose and the track always gets paid. Gainsville lost the AMA series because they too increased their price and it went to SMGP. Prices have to work for both sides. If SMGP wants to step up and continue their own series I think its a win win for all racers. Just hold the event on your own day to get the best crowd.

Teddy, the contract I skimmed over had nothing fair in it from the manufactures.
I agree, the manufactures do have a lot of influence as to where the big guys go, but I'm not sure who was guaranteeing the purses. Also don't know who took the loss when/if a rainout..
There were a lot of variables that are still unknown, but I think both parties should be gut punched for simply doing something so stupid to the sport that makes both of their jobs.

I'm sure there is plenty of blame on both sides. Both sides were trying to prove who had the bigger pee pee. I only hope that by next year they at least schedule each others events on different days. It was nice to have a bike event down here for once and I hope they can keep it going. I like the track up there too. Now if they can only hold the events on different days everyone wins. Racers don't care about the politics behind the sceens, they just want a place to run and have fun.

More drama! From the chatter at the track last night, there is talk that the Nov race may be moved to Orlando.
