you guys think the 14r can spin the tire while already goin about 95???

so i was on a back road goin about 90- 95 in 5th gear comin out of a turn almost straightened out, opened it wide and back started to slide just enough to really get my attention, tire has about 1000 miles on it its the pilot power 2ct, only mod is two brothers slip ons, traction control off, so i guess im just surprised it can still spin the tire while already at that speed and the road was very good condition couldnt see any sand or anything, damn what a bike!!

I'm not trying to downplay the power of the 14r but I'm wondering if there was a small bump in the road or something and maybe the road was cold as well. I just don't think you're turning enough RPM's in 5th gear at 90-95 MPH to make enough power to overpower the rear tire. But then, I still haven't ridden a 14r yet.

Yes I think it can spin the tire. Just pull the clutch lever in and coast. I suspect the tire will continue to spin.

But seriously, that is impressive. This is one of the reasons why I like having the flies in on my 2006 ZX-14, so that doesn't happen. 5th gear at that speed on my bike would be below 7K and my flies would be closed.

I guess those Two Bros slips ons (like I have) are not too shabby!

Wow I didn't know FL has roads with a speed limit of 90-95.

i was so curious myself i turned around and went back slow around that area and it was smooth and no sand (i live in florida) also was about 78 out today so the road was probally pretty warm but not hot

Ohnestly, i don't think so but i could be wrong. I wacked the throttle wide open in 4th gear around 70mph and carried it through 5th and never broke traction (traction control was off and i sfited into 5th 1000rpm before red line). But I'm still breakin her in. I Have the m5 stock tires, and haven't done anything to her yet.

Next time take that same turn in 6th then. This is one of the disadvantages of having the flies open too early which I have been "preaching". People, I am not as "dumb" as you think I am. I bet on my 2006 ZX-14, I would have no trouble with loss of traction at similar engine RPMs and speed because my flies are in. The Kawasaki Engineers put them there for a reason and you guys are defeating it by removing them!

oh yeah they do not many people know about these less traveled roads out in middle of nowhere, in my opinion if i cant see any cars as far as they eye can see in front or behind there is no speed limit ! or side roads , and yes i know it will catch up to me someday ,

Tell that to the deer that pops out in front of you.

The lower speed limit would be somewhere around 20 under the posted maximum speed limit. If you go slower than that and impede traffic, you might get a ticket.

What kind of gas mileage do you get at 120 MPH? If I am low on gas, I like to drive faster than normal. That way I get to my destination before I run out of gas (ha ha, old joke).

How about doing a constant speed balance wheelie at 99 MPH? Is that boring?

no thanks not into wheelies i always either go to high or not high enough so i gave up just a few power wheelies once in a while.. oh and the gas mileage sucks at those speeds i have 130 miles on that tank so far and its on empty already, started to flash when i got home

Sounds like you the wrong motorcycle for your style of riding. From reading your other posts I realize it was more of a "POSE" factor purchase as an attempt to look "cool".

i know its possible with my reat tire....im using a shinko raven rear tire and man does it suck. grip wise anyways. all i have to do it change lanes and twist a little and the rear spins and slides. i have tried to scuff the tire up but nothing worked yet. im sure this tire will last a while but the grip is not for turning at all. plus the tire is flat instead of round. i didnt know it was flat when i ordered it. oh well ill use it as a spare when i order new tires soon.

At 90-95 in 5th the 14R will be doing 6000rpm and making in the region of 100bhp so of course it's possible to spin the rear. It will only take a slight bump or any reduction in rear grip for this to happen if the TC is off - and it's even more likely on any bike with an extended swing-arm. (I assume the OP's bike is stock wheelbase)
