My #2 winter project

As I finish up on the 14 I have gathered up parts for project number 2. It's going to be the 03 Busa.sitting up against the wall.

I decide I am going to install this up to 70" inch swingarm I have with a strait link to keep it low.

I have a 2010 Busa motor and all of the electronics from the donor bike. 8 injectors and modern electronics

Should be a nice running bike. The gauges might be a little tricky to mount because the plastic trim is different on the newer Busa. Everything else should be bolt on. I have the 10 airbox which is way better than the older ones with the emissions flap. Starting on it when I finish the 14.

I just like projects. The build is the thrill for me. It's like stress relief. I just get all the parts up and go to work. It's a lot cheaper to do it this way but you have to like to work on stuff. Sometimes I just hit it for a couple of hours afterwork or I might not work on them for weeks. Or I might pull a 12 hour day when I am off. I like mechanical stuff. But not cleaning up leaves

Compare models

Holding the Gen 2 gauges up to the 03 dash and gauges. The Gen 2 gauges look good and have a large shiftlight similar to the ones on the GSXR1000. you can't see it in the pic but it's about the sixe of a dime located just outside the tach, I will have to trim the 03 plastic trim to make it fit. looks like it bolts up the same to the faring stay.

The intake is narrow on the Gen 2. But the exhaust is the same spacing. You can see the 8 injectors in this pic vs the Gen 1 with 4. Note the Gen 2 has secondary throttle plates like the 14 but I have been told by many that it hurts the Busa to take them out.

The Gen 1 head had a spider emmision system that you had to take off and buy these little block off plates to make it not have a decel pop. Here in this pic of the Gen 1 you can see the studs and holes above the exhaust ports. They must be plugged. after you get that done cut the emission flap out of the airbox and gain 10 HP below 6K

The Gen 2 head does not have this system. It uses a valve cover vent like the 14 and the GSXR1000. You can gain some free HP by making a T and hooking it up the the crankcase vent.

The motors are basically the same. Suzuki fixed the output shaft on the transmission but made the cylinders weaker. More to follw.

Keep it and have both. A gen 2 can make 240 with ease. I am still considering a turbo using a 1:1 reg.

We made 273hp on stock fuel system on my old one it took 8.5 psi. It would start to lean out on longer pulls with that stock fuel pump tho.

But it was BY FAR the best riding turbo bike I have ever rode. The secondary injectors make all the difference in the world with tuning and ridibility

Your right. You can do all the tunning with the stock ECU. You just have to add the 1:1 reglator for on boost fueling. other than that they ride like stock.

Ya we were gonna throw in some big injectors in the secondary set. And add a walbro255. But sold it off before I got around to it.

And I think I was leaning on them rods pretty hard already with just the power it was making

Actually the Suzuki rod is pretty tuff it's the bolts that are the weal link. Order you some of the ARP HD Busa rod bolts with 220K TS and you can run up to 350 RWHP with no problem. I did it for years. Thats what I am going to do to this one.
