Stock oil pump cover leaks like crazy.
Put the engine in the frame and primed the oil system with the clutch basket out. I chucked a 3/8 socket extension in a drill and spun the pump from the water pump side on low speed. That factory cover poured oil from the lower right side. That would be a lot more oil at high rpm. Waiting on the billet cover and hoping it dont leak any. Kaw should have o-ringed the cover for this in my opinion.

Ask chris jones what he does to fix it , if i remember right he puts a bit of RTV on it to seal it ..

Yeah and not to be a smart ass, but the billet cover leaks like a sieve also ! If you get yourself some 518 an just lightly coat the outer edge ever so carefully it will stop it , on the bench test anyway.
Not a good design for sure.............

An anaerobic sealer takes care of it. Dont use very much thou. The billet cover from Muzzys helps also. It doesn't flex at high pressure.

Important: Anaerobic sealed joints that are partially torqued, and allowed to cure more
than five minutes, may result in incorrect shimming and sealing of the joint.
Do not allow the sealer to enter any blind threaded holes, as it may prevent the bolt
from seating properly, or cause damage when the bolt is tightened.
Tighten bolts to specifications. Do not over-tighten.
After properly tightening the fasteners, remove the excess sealer from the outside of
the joint.
Anaerobic drys without air , RTV drys with air .. I guess you could use either type but Anaerobic seems to be the best pick for the oil pump cover ..

Good points Lee.
The main thing to remember is that, while the partial torque trick until partially cured works with RTV, it doesn't work with anaerobic sealers. Ttorque it right to spec with anaerobic.
