piston to valve clearence
heard brock has a tool to check ptv clearance without removing the head. cant seem to find the tool. can anyone give a little help locating this tool

I know there is a tool for the Busa but I dont think there is one for the 14. If so, I will buy one, too.

that makes sense. it was a busa guy who told me about it. guess i will do it old school and pull the head and clay the pistons. thanks. trying to get a motor together for the new mirock all motor class next year.

Hey Quick, just find this tool on Brocks's site. Part number 821130 but it is for the 09-12 Busa. Sorry I can't get the picture to paste here.

thanks smoking. i will look into it. will probally just pull the head. i have a feeling im going to need a thicker head gasket to get the ptv clearance i need. exhaust is at 110 now and i only have 86 thousands clearance. i want to move it to 104.

With the exhaust center line at 104 your piston to valve clearance will be VERY CLOSE. Each degree of lobe center line change is 7 thousands (.007). So if you have .086 now and move it 6 degress, thats a .042 move. That will leave you about .044 clearance and that is a very small clearance. I have .055 on my exhaust and I worry about that sometimes, especially if I miss a shift.

I have the exhaust at 108 with .055 PTV and the intake is at 110 with .062. Hope this helps. The bike pulls real hard on top end.
