Shortening wheel base on the 14r

Stock sprockets and chain. How many links can be taken out.....Shorter handles better in the twisty` s............I never read anybody doing it..........We ride so many roads with turns you could puke from motion sickness.

you could get a Gen 1 OEM swing arm and remove at least 2 pins from your chain. That's an easy 3rd of an inch.. (10mm) you get about 5mm per tooth for larger sprockets as well. Might be able to make it work with 2 less pins on your current setup.. but I doubt it.

be easier to pull forks up to quicken up the steering or add a little rear ride height. What little bit you are talking about doing will not have that much affect on handling. .02

All I want to know is the question I ask.I have 1 inch of adjuster in use.If i could get 1/2 inch less and still get the chain on the rear sprocket after taking 4 pins out then adding a rivet link. That would be 1 link shorter......... I know I would would feel an Improvement in the twisty`s.

I don't know the answer, but gearing commander can tell you the effect that chain length ( number of links ) has on wheel base. And sprocket changes for that matter!

I thought I read in another one of your post you wanted to run 8.90 at swb, if you shorten the bike you won't do it. If anything I see you going to a 39 to 40 tooth rear to do it which will make the wheelbase longer.

I drag race a bike maybe 20 miles a year.I put on around 6000 miles a year riding the streets.Handling is more important to me.If I go up on the rear sprocket gas mileage sucks. If it can be done i will deal with it at the track...Power wheelies are a good show and lots of fun anyway.............

you won't notice that minor difference in wheelbase. Like I said earlier, a drop of the yokes or rear ride adjustment would make a much larger difference in the fun stuff than a tiny wheelbase decrease. Not worth the effort IMO. But hey, whatever floats yer boat and makes you feel better.
