Speed restrictor
14ners, I would like to disable the speed limiter on my 2011. I live in Fay,nc and its busa country. My fellow club members all ride busas. I give them all they want, but I wanna give them more. I read about the Ivan's but it won't help the 14. So now they are coming after me from all angles.
Mods: PVC/ AT, flies out, stacks, Bmc air filter, braided brake lines, Dino ride at 192hp, 6 inches in the back, -1front, +2 in rear, hyper damper, muzzy full exhaust, pipes rapped from header to canister.2nd fan, lowered. She pulls real hard thru all gears, in fact I can take off in 3rd from a light and get going quick. Any help will do.

There is a company that can help you but I'm not sure if I can mention them because I'm not sure they're a sponsor. They did my 09 and raised the rev limit 500 also.

Just grind off one of the bumps off the speed sensor nut ...Done ..Your speedo will read wrong but you will not be limited anymore..

A Speedohealer will allow one to correct the speedometer and to disable the speed limiter at will, while retaining the gear indicator on the dash. Lew

Not quite as I understand it, unless Healtech have changed their product. (I ran my 2006 14 with a Speedo Healer in LSR events). It defeats the speed limiter by altering the pulse repetition rate from the speedo pick-up, putting in an under-read and is similar to grinding a corner off the sprocket nut except it's programmable in either direction and not permanent. The Speedo Healer was originally made to correct for gearing changes or to convert kph speedos to mph, it's just speed freaks like us who use it to defeat the limiter by making the ECU (and speedo) read low.
If you want an accurate speedo and a derestricted bike do what the above replies suggest and get the ECU re-flashed. That has other advantages too, like extra engine rpm and earlier secondary butterfly opening. Brock did my 2012 reflash by return of post.

Read Heal Tech's website concerning the Speedohealer V4. It does what I said it will do. It also has switchable dual settings and highest speed recall. Lew

Do you know for a fact that it removes the limiter while AT THE SAME TIME giving an accurate speedo?
So does the bike think it's still in 5th gear to fool the ECU when you hook 6th?

I don't think it uses the fooling the ECU about 5th gear method. One reason to use the switchable dual settings is to use one setting to correct the speedo factory error or error due to sprocket/gear ratio change or tire size change and the other specifically to defeat the speed limiter for a high speed run/race. The speed limiter defeating setting would tell/fool the ECU into thinking the bike is going perhaps 90 mph less than actual speed. So, no not both at the same time. Two different settings for two different purposes. I have a Speedohealer SH-V4 on my turbo Connie 14 but haven't had a chance to check it out. I did get the bike to Valdosta, GA Nov. 9, 10 & 11 and it ran 1/4 mile 9.92 et @ 144 mph. I' m sure it will do better, when we learn to launch better and control/keep the front wheel down. It's a bit different on a shaft driven bike. Lew

So the SH-V4 is more or less the same as the earlier version I used in 2006 but instead of me reprogramming it for either an under-read at the track or transparent for the road it has two switchable channels to store those settings.
To defeat the speed limiter it still makes the speedo under-read. Glad I went for a reflash this time.

I might be wrong, but what i have understood is that the speedo healer removes the limiter and you can adjust the speedo to show real speed, but youl have to use a GPS to show you the correct speed to adjust it to.

Question: does the reflash mess with the gear display? I thought i read somewhere that it fools the ecm to believing its in 5th gear so that the gear display is always wrong?

I might be wrong, but a reflash will not interfer with the gear indicator. But if you use a TRE it will always show 5th gear.

To sum up:
TRE simulates 5th gear, no speed limiter but the gear indicator always shows 5th.
Speedo Healer makes the speedo under-read to defeat the speed limiter but you can switch it to read normally, when you WILL be speed limited.
Re-flash defeats the speed limiter (adds other stuff too) and everything works.
It's a no-brainer

The Muzzy Bonneville Pro will correct the speedometer and remove the 186mph speed restriction. I used it for an LTA run last September and it worked, but it started causing speedometer drop outs late last year so I removed it.
I would reccomend the ECU reflash, that's what I'll be doing before this years LTA event.
