Sprocket Change Sputter Again
I have read all the threads about this but thought I would tell you my results as I just went to 17-44. First time out I didn't really feel anything. Puttered around in first and second around 2,000-3,500rpm and didn't really feel what people were describing. I was in TC1 so decided to turn TC off. As soon as I did I felt exactly what everyone is talking about I then tried TC2 and again didn't feel the bucking. Back to TC off and it was back again. I did find that if you just simply twisted the throttle a little more aggressively I wouldn't feel it at all. I did talk to Don Guhl about this before I had the ECU flashed and he said that he a Brock are aware of this and think it is ECU related due to software looking for certain parameters it is not seeing. Don said they will look into sometime but not super high on the list as it is so easy to eliminate by being more aggressive with the throttle by just a little. The Traction Control position is what is interesting to me. I sure wouldn't go back to stock gearing just for this.

Interesting.......Does the problem only occur when you install lower gearing? Does anyone know if it also happen with taller gearing in place?

Mine did that with the 16/45 gearing but since the drag racing season is over now I put 18/40 gears on it and it doesn't have any issues now just great gas mileage like 45-55 mpg

Thanks for the info Slow, good to know. Ditto on the taller gearing, 17/38 with a new 'gold' DID chain.

I was out more today and do see it in TC1 so I guess it does it in all positions.

mines does it with or without the TC..ill be going back down to a 42 rear shortly.

a few questions
1) does anybody have the stuttering issue with taller gearing?
2) Anybody with the flies removed have the issue?
3) wonder why there aren't any complaints from the guys without zx10s?

No to the taller gearing atleast not with 18/40 gears

No problems with low rpm stutter with a taller 41T, TC on or off. That said, mine will get an ECU reflash to get rid of the restrictions in the lower 3 gears in 2013 when I can do it along with pipe and tune.
