Corrosion @ Battery Terminals
Has anyone had issues with corrosion on the battery terminals? I have an 06 zx14. I replaced my oem battery about two years ago and there was a lot of build up. I thought maybe it was due to lack of tightness at the connection so I changed the bolts to Socket Screws to get a tighter fit. I use di-electric grease on all electrical connections.
I was out cruising around yesterday and my bike went haywire. LCD Screen wouldnt come up, then it did, but wouldnt show any info.
Luckily I was stopped at a motorcycle shop. They were kind enough to loan me a couple tools and I pulled the battery to find so much corrosion on the posts that it was disrupting the connection. I thoroughly cleaned the connections and they tested the battery @ 12.7 volts. Threw it back in and all was good.
Only thing I have added to the battery is the quick connects for a battery tender.
What is causing this? Has anyone had this same issue?

Sounds like your battery has leaks around the posts however small. Replacement would be my choice.

If you use something like Wynn's Battery Terminal Grease it should prevent oxidation of the terminals and it contains a dye which warns of any leakage.

Thanks for the input. I wonder how much the heat affects the battery considering its location. I have and have had other bikes and never have had this problem. This is the second battery to do this on this bike.
