The End of My 14 Journey
Hi Guys,
It was with a heavy heart that I gave up - but after riding another 14R with 1 mile on it that had the same tendency as mine, I can only guess that Kawasaki made a bad batch of 14Rs that ended up on the West Coast. I know that nobody on here has had the same problem, and reality is that suing Kawasaki would most likely only waste more of my time and money. And although my 14R S.E. was an incredibly beautiful machine, I just couldn't justify having that much bike for a daily commuter only and I sold her on Thursday night. The guy that bought it was hilarious - he had to be at least 65 years old, tall, gray beard, and bought mine to replace his Blackbird with 42k "hard miles". He was wearing a 200 mph club hat from the Bonneville Salt Flats and told me he was indeed a member of the club. The first (and only) thing he scoffed about the bike was that it didn't read a full 200 mph on the speedometer - but he did promise me that he was going to "ride the shit out of it!" Lol - definitely not your typical senior citizen! Anyway, I'm sure he'll never have any issues since he isn't a drag racer, and I can attest that the bike has no straight line issues at high-end triple digit speeds.
So life goes on and sooner or later, I'm sure I'll be back on 2 wheels again - although I doubt it will be a Kawasaki. But I have found some joy with the new girl in my life that is helping me not think about my animosity for team green so much - she's sassy-n-silver ;-) You guys take care, I wish you all the best . . . ride fast, ride safe, and enjoy life

Don't take your hands off the wheel, I'm guessing it will pull to the left.

Wow- not trying to hate or be hated, ridiculed, etc. And there's a good chance I've gone quicker on 2 wheels than the ones being smart asses. If the bike would launch straight, I'd still have it....bottom line. I find it ridiculous that anyone would be so presumptuous in judging me for selling my bike. But it is what it is.

I totally understand your decision and support you 100% bro. Selling the 14R after all you went through with it is what it is. Enjoy the vette and ignore anyone who would tell you otherwise. I will be out in Cali soon for a visit and give you a call when I am out there.

Good chance you haven't gone quicker on two wheels or 4 four for that matter. you signature line says 9.27 thats a ways off. and i wasn't being a smart ass but as picky as you seem to be that vette will pull ,i know i sold mine not long ago. great car i just never drove it as i'm always on the bike and have a 5 year old, so im in the market for a mustang next year.

From what I see you are a motorcycle enthusiast, too bad it didn't worked out with the ZX-14R. Hope to see you soon on another ride! Good luck!

No worries and I'm not really concerned who is quicker than whom. My point is that I've drag raced long enough to know when the vehicle is doing something it shouldn't, which is what the 14R was doing - pulling hard enough to the left at launch that it would ruin the run. My '06 14 didn't do this, and neither did my GSX-R 1000 on several hundred or more passes between both of them. The 'Vette doesn't pull either way and if it did, it still wouldn't be a huge deal as I didn't buy it to primarily drag race, unlike the '14R.

Thanks very much. And yes, I'll most likely get another ride fairly soon. That CBR-250 is looking kinda sweet - good way to keep out of trouble and save some serious gas...lol

My bad thought you where concerned you brought it up, 11,700 with the ct pipe? if so, once agian the used market is crap on the 14. I was really hoping that would not be the case with the 14r as it is with the first gen's. guess i will run mine in the ground then cause i would not take basically 10,000 for the bike. good luck with the vette you plan on running it at the track?

Nah, just coincidental that I got a new car right before I sold the bike - didn't mean to make it look like I was replacing the 14R with the Corvette. And yeah, I let it go with the CT and PCV. And the guy that bought it was the only person of interest after advertising it a few times on Craig's - so yeah, it is indeed a buyers' market (as is usually the case with used stuff though). So the 'Vette is an '09 with 15.1k miles so although I lost money on a practically new bike, I got a good deal on a practically new car - so I guess it balances out :-) And yeah, 430 hp / 424 tq lbs - I definitely gotta see what she'll do at the track!

I'm hoping for about that - I've seen some pretty amazing e.t.s from those things right off the showroom floor.

Me too, Bub. It's nice having a car with such comfortable seats and great power that 1/4 mile napping is an option.

Thanks Shorty (and Blk Ice) - I've got no worries. There are lots of good people on here but no matter what, there will always be those to dish out shit as well. I find it entertaining :o)
