Jim I'm not disagreeing with you in anyway and believe what you have put into your engine combos, all I did is repeat what Ryan told me. He didnt say there was 60k spent on the engine over the last few years. That 60k was spent on everything on the bike to get it where it is today. I did talk to Richard last night but not about this topic. I really can care less about this. 1bad is always talking down on folks that have zx14's. i like my zx14 its been a great bike. To each thier own. Oh and ive been to Richards shop several times and have seen Mikes bike. Lots of cool go fast parts on that beast.

man o' man, it's only beginning November and the crazed bench racing is in full swing!

I had an hour to kill so i read this whole topic.
conclusions:
1. ZX14R is highest hp hyperbike ever sold.

2. Jim Gilnack has developed a killer head/cam package which sets records (no surprise to me).

3. Bonneville records like Mike Garcia's are great but hard to compare with drag racing results. LOLOLOL.

4. Built Busas are faster than built Kawasaki's in LSR, but most people here are drag racers and couldn't give a shit about LSR.

5. bullshit is entertaining

6. apples to apples comparisons don't seem to be welcomed except by about 5 people on this thread.

Well put Karl.

The bottom line is the zx14 and busa will make the same power per cc..... the busa can just keep going bigger where the zx14 cant.

Also the zx14's are heavier bikes even in full grudge format.

Theres rumors of an all motor class for the MiRock series next year.
I hope its true.

You know, I love bench racing almost as much as racing, I guess it has something to do with my age. LOL but the first rule to keep a good bench race going is to be honest.

What do you think would happen if I went over to the busa site, and started saying Kawasaki's rule, do you think I'd have people chunk and rocks at me over there lol, you don't walk into a guys house and insult his wife and walk out the door and say, I don't know what the guys mad about.

Maybe at the track now, Busa have an advantage, but only because of the bigger cc.

But on the street Kawasaki's do rule, at least around here, we have a Thursday night bike night about 300 bike show up, after it's over it's show and tell, out of the 40 bike that leave together there were at least five 14 up front, four of them 14R not one of them that left with us was a new busa, there were busa there but they stayed in the back.

Kawasaki intent was not to build the fastest drag bike, but the faster street bike, and I think their success speaks for itself with both the 14R and the ZX10.

last i checked the speed limit in America is 70mph in most places .. so KHI is encouraging people to break the law instead of taking it to a track ..http://www.ehow.com/list_7255605_texas-street-racing-laws.html

How hard is it to understand that the new kwacker stock for stock is a little bit faster than the hayabusa over the 1/4 mile ,but with a bit of bolt ons or head work the things even out.
anyway ,there is not a lot between them if one is doing 8.4,and the other 8.5 so what?

not at all hard to understand; Zx14R is most powerful hyperbike ever made.

just as easy to understand is that once the modding competition starts, it ends with Busas winning every category.

Like Jim says, bigger motor wins when efficiency is about the same.

#1 WINNER: streetbike = 14R

#1 WINNER: big built bike = Busa

Same thing 1bad said but he's an asshole according to everyone. for what a guy can buy a gen 1 busa for and mod it it would make more hp then the 14r for alot less money. But I still chose the 14r because I did not want a built motor bike. I've seen low mile gen 1's for 4000.00

I think to some people it's a mystery why Kawasaki does things the way they do ?

#1 why did they make a one-peace block ? you only have to ask the Busa guys that run nitrous and tried to over bore their cylinders 2 mm, they'll split down the middle, and if you run the old model block, you don't get the air bypass at the bottom of the cylinder like the Kawasaki's have.

#2 why didn't they put bigger buckets on the valve train, So I can run a big cam ? if you put bigger buckets, it's more weight, and more weight requires heavier springs, and that cost you horsepower.

#3 why didn't they open up the crank case, So I could run a bigger stroke ? Kawasaki' sales street bikes, not drag bikes, they may not be as stupid as you think! why would I go and buy a new bike If I can just make the one I have bigger? I'm sure you will see a bigger Kawasaki', if there's a need for it on the street.

Things are not as bad at the track as some would suggest, apples for apples and weight for weight were not losing any races. and there is over 6 million people in my neighborhood

badda bing!

I love building and running a big, very high strung, edgy NA motor, but no one can compete with the OEM's engineering & manufacturing expertise.

If i wanted a 200hp street machine, i'd much rather have it come that way from OEM with a warrantee, all the cooling & oiling details worked out.

On the other hand lotsa folks would rather buy a 165-185hp bike and bore it a lil, maybe stroke it a lil, maybe port it & cam it a little. Get their 200hp that way.

Hey, different strokes for different folks.

know a guy that just bought a 2004 busa for 4200 that had 10987 miles and full yosh system. there was just one on psycho bike for 4700 obo. not hard if you spend some time looking. not sure about a 14 but to me a 06 or 07 is a 4500.00 to 5500.00 bike now. hell my buddy bought an 08busa at the start of summer with exhaust and new tires and 3800 miles for 7200.00. used bike prices are still cheap if you take your time and shop around.
