H-9 Hi beam bulbs, in H-11 Low Beam Sockets? Can it be done?
Have HID lights in my low beams now, and PIAA H-9 65 Watt Platinum bulbs in the high beams.
The PIAA's are unbelievably bright and white even in daytime driving for on-coming traffic to see me.
My HID's light patterns are rather askew and not really focused on the street like I would like. At a distance the HID's don't even look like they are on especially during daylight when looking at the bike from 50 yards away or more.
Question:
Is it possible to refit, PIAA H-9 Low beam bulbs, into the H-11 Stock Sockets, without too much effort on maybe modifying flanges on the H-9 bulbs (PIAA)?
Has anyone done this yet, if so what do the light patterns on the street look like...do they touch or compliment each other, or is there a dead spot like I have now with my HID and H-9 PIAA bulbs?
PIAA has just released a new H-11 Low beam bulb.....called PIAA Night Tech.....It provides 90% more light over stock bulbs, +35 meters further down road lighting, and 10% more white light...about $66.95 per pair...and 3600 Kelvin.
Any positive input would be appreciated....

2-1/2 turns up on the adjusters. More or less depending on your suspension set up. Try first ?

The adjusters don't do it..that was the first thing I tried. It puts the high beams way too high up as both light assemblies adjust the same as you raise or lower the bulb heights. No go on this one.

Just changing the bulbs won't change the light output much. The design of the projectors is your issue. The low beam projector has metal in it to produce the cutoff line so oncoming drivers aren't blinded. That metal isn't in the high beam projector. It's weird that you're complaining about light output because I think the stock projectors are good as they light up four lanes on the highway using HID's. Same as my 04 R1 actually.
Oh and btw when you look at the lighting from the front bend down and you're see all of the light. What you're experiencing is the metal in the projector doing its job blocking stray light.

After exhaustive testing have settled on the following....
Modified the stock High beam bulbs and got them to fit into the low beam receptacles.....better distribution of light....but they are yellow in color.....55 watt standard next to the PIAA 4150K bulbw 65 W-120Watt Platinum White bulbs which are the high beams now and just wonderful.
Ordered another set of the Platinum High beam bulbs, will modify one locking stud and install them into the low beam nacelle...
Then....will have 4 Platinum 65 Watt bulbs all the same light and wattage configuration up front...the PIAA 1100X are on the sides of each front fender too.....
When I got up close....the stock high beam bulbs were significantly yellow in color and appeared to be sick when next to the PIAA platinum white bulbs....it was a no brainer...
Searched E bay found a new pair for 45.00......
Found the HID bulbs in the low beam receptacles....provided inconsistent lighting on the road and was more linear across the road instead of putting the right kind of white high intensity lighting I wanted on the street....
I think these projector beam lenses are only designed to be used with regular filament bulbs, not the HID......I have excellent results with the HID's in the C-14 with modified shrods..but it is a different reflector lens combination...
Only thru filming still shots could I really get a comparison of the different bulb applications...and now have decided to make them all the same...should have dynamic lighting up front...and be happier...
