Pistons and rods for boost

Gonna go ahead and do pistons and maybe rods in the turbo 14 since my racing season is over till March. Want to keep the compression up to 11.0-12.0 so the bike still has some responsiveness. The only pistons that I can find so far are the MTC Tall Deck 11.0 to 1 which require a 2mm shorter rod. Any experience with these pistons? Opinions welcome.

My turbo 12 is running MTC pistons. they are very heavy duty. I have the Muzzy spec design which uses an 18mm pin instead of 21 and moves the rings down instead of adding material on the top. way thicker above the valve reliefs (where the JEs cracked) had to bush the rods to make it all work.

I didn't want to mention engine damage until I confirmed it wasnt just a head gasket. Looks like detonation to me for some reason I can't explain yet, no cylinder damage. Hit the rev limiter once and momentarily and the bike was missing on a cylinder. Saw smoke at the vent the next morning. Stock compression, stock timing, cr10ei plugs, 105 octane, at 5-6lbs boost.

If the zx is like the busa rev limiter, they pull half the fuel from a couple of cyls for a soft rev limiter just before the hard limiter, that used to kill a lot of busas untill you could flash the soft cut out

that was definatelty a fuel related detonation, no carbon at the burn.
#4 is notorious for running the hottest in the coolant circuit at the thermostat
and #4 will lose fuel pressure before the others with stock fuel rail, if an injector locks open, or the fp dumps for some reason

Exactly what I think too, fuel. 100-105 octane was "supposed" to work out with stock ignition timing and 12:1 compression. But if you really figure it to boost ratio it is 15.5 :1 compression.

Is it possible that the .48 A/R played a role with to much back pressure ?
