Interesting night.

I went to Bandimere speedway last night which is about 6000 ft above sea level. This was my third time at the strip and was determined to break into the tens(actually pretty tough at this altitude on a stock bike). Second run of the night I pulled up next to a 2004 WRX. He revved his engine and I kind of laughed and revved mine, thinking of all the 13 and 14 second WRXs I have beat in the past. After that I saw nothing but his tail lights. He ran a 10.91@130. Last race of the night I finally ended up running a 10.999. I was pretty stoked. I pulled out of the lot. Next thing I know a state trooper is on my ass. Ended up with a 4 point $135 ticket for failing to make a complete stop. Still a good night. And for the third time I did not see one other zx14.

I've been there and know what you mean, the elevation is a killer.

Congratulations on the 10's and you gotta remember the boost the WRX's make creates their own atmosphere......they don't struggle near as much as a n/a engine does.

Bummer 'bout the ticket though.

I was making a right turn onto the on ramp when I saw headlights come right up on my ass. I thought it was my buddy(who was also racing that night) looking for some trouble. I was about 3 seconds a way from slamming the throttle open when I was blinded by red and blue. By the time I new it was a cop, he had already been on me long enough to get my plate number.

On a side note, the last time I got pulled over by a Harley cop and he asked me the same question-"why did you pull over? I would have never caught you"

My buddy and I race our 14's at Bandimere on test and tune night and occasionally do the brackets on Friday nights. We both have 2006 stock wheel base 14's and run 9.90 to 10.0's at 140 to 144 mph. Your bike has to be set up correctly to hit nines up here. Im finally going to stretch mine this weekend. It should go about 3 tenths faster. It takes a 1.65 or better 60' to hit a nine and MR 12 to get there. I'll look for you this Wednesday night. It's the last test and tune of the season. What color is your 14?

I might not be going this week. That verywell might have been my last ride. Just found out I have a baby on the way so I will probably be selling the bike soon.

I just looked over the track rules, Im wondering if I even want to go now. Im sure ill get into the 9's up here, and they will kick me off the track.
"If your M/C is capable of times quicker than 10.99 (6.99 in 1/8th) you must install a lanyard and switch to cut off the ignition system should you become separated from the M/C. Lanyard may be attached to OEM ignition cutoff switch.

If your M/C is capable of exceeding 120 MPH in the 1/4 mile you must wear full leathers or two piece leathers that zip together at the waist.

If your M/C runs 9.99 (6.39 in 1/8th) or 135 MPH consult the NHRA rule book for licensing requirements."
Ive got a safe bike, pants and jacket, but not zip togather. Kinda sucks, looks like ill stay on the street.
All these rules for somthing ive been doing every other day for the last 30k miles on this bike?? Is the idea to get us off the street or not?

You should go and see what you turn for ET. A nine is harder than you think at this altitude. you need to run about 9.20 at sea level to get into the nines at Bandimere ( if there is no head wind). They will let you run the first night to see where you are. You won't get thrown out , they'll let you run the rest of the night, but you'll have to get the lanyard and leathers for your return trip if you race consistantly. If you go once a month or so, they probably won't bother you at all. Especially if it's test and tune night. I successfuly argued with tech that the 14's have a "tip" switch and don't need a lanyard but I got tired of fighting that battle every time I went so I just put one on.

They don't care for test and tune. There was a guy on a lowered and stretche busa wearing textiles. Like Denver said, 9s are tough up here.

Yeah I bet, I come from sea level a few months back, the 14 feels like 3/4 throttle up here. I think the bikes got a 9 in it, but I dont have much track time, im more of a street guy. My problem will be dealing with cold/slow hands and sliding back on the seat at green light with my riding pants (icon overloard). Im thinking double side tape or somthing?.
