PCV install
Is there anything special I need to know before installing the PCV? The instructions look pretty simple but sometimes things aren't what they seem.

not really. its pretty easy. just a few hints for you though. that posi-tap the pcv comes with is neat. i would skin some of the wire to make sure it makes a good contact. i put the ground onto the frame like instructed but i ended up putting it directly to battery. i had a little problem with the ground when i out it onto the frame bolt.

are you mounting the unit on the left ram air tube like they show or somewhere more accessible?

Here's what we do, plug the computer cable connection into the PC5 when you tuck it away and run the open end to a spot which you can easily access for map tuning (keep it dry). Otherwise you end up having to remove the bodywork everytime you want to fine tune - which can be often if you're changing fuel, doing air-flow mods or just fussy.

i put mine on the left inside of the ram air tube. i coiled my usb cable and left it plugged into the pcv and covered the other end that goes into the laptop. i tucked it away just under the inside panel above the ram air tube. when i need to tune i just pull the cable and plug in. viola. i put a small bead of hot gl;ue around the pcv connection to help keep out moisture.
as far as the grounding on the pcv, my bike died while i was cruising around 85 on the expressway. i was lucky enough to get bike started after a few minutes and made it home to fix

last page, temperature input connection. what am I supposed to do with that? I am really starting to think I'm the dumbest person on this forum but what a pain in the butt it is going to be to get that crank sensor plug unplugged.

I ended up puting mine on the left ram air tube also. That came after discovering that it would not feed through to go behind the fuel tank, under the seat as on Gen 1's. Not saying it can't be done but it was not an easy fit on mine. The rest of it was pretty straight forward.

the crank sensor is not that bad. it should be taped with electrical tape to another wire. i just wiggled it enough to have the tape slide and give enough slack to remove the connector. when you try to remove the crank sensor connector press the tab on the connector and at the same time pull down on it just enough so it wont lock back in place. as far as temp input wire you will not need that. you can leave that alone. that is the wire you would use if you wanted to add engine temperature function on the power commander

Glad I found out during the install that the frame ground doesn't work that great. I got it installed and turned the key to here a buzz and then absolutely nothing.
I tried for an hour (probably should have read Rook's post a few more times) and could not figure out how to route the wiring harness with the PCV under the seat.
Funny, the pictures on the pcv instructions show the unit laying flat along side the ram air tube. there is no way on God's green earth mine will lay flat in there.
