Battery hold down for lsr
I'm getting ready for wilmington and besides dropping my wheels off to get metal valve stems put in I still need to handle the battery hold down issue. Does anyone have any pics or ideas for a gen 1 14? So far everything I have seen seems to be just use some metal bands to wrap around it.
Thanks for your help

Steve,
It depends who the tech guys are, some will make sure you have some straps while others won't check.
This is a picture of how I did mine & I've never had a problem since they started checking a couple years ago.
They won't be able to see with the covers on so after you do it just take a picture of it and carry it with you up to tech.
I'm not racing the event but will be there helping out my son. He'll have a green 14 with a cutdown black tank. If you need any help just holler at me.

For some reason I can't post the picture. Shoot me an email at IGO202@bellsouth.net and I'll send it to you.

Since the battery is within the frame and the bracket that holds the tray in place is metal you shouldn't need anything additional. Just to be safe I used a large hose clamp to clamp the battery to the tray. Homedepot sells them in the plumbing section for a couple of bucks.

You're welcome Steve, I guess my pictures popped up on their own after a while???
ama573,
I agree with you 100% and have argued that point to no avail, ultimately the tech guys have the final say-so.

12R cover serves as the restraint. 14 cover is plastic and needs additional strapping.

The 14 comes from the factory with a metal bracket running from front to back on the outside of the battery. Why would we need anything else?

so does mine , why would you need more ? Unless you guys are tossing it out to lose some weight ? No way is the battery going anywhere ..
