2012 ZX14R flies in or out question again!!!

I took my secondaries out with the Guhls Guts ecu mod. Everything is great. Bike runs good but seems a little rich on the low end. Now there is a second ecu mod needing the secondaries back in. On Brock's dyno it shows that there is a 2 hp loss with the secondaries out. My question is, Is it better at real speed to have your secondaries in or out?? Which will give you better flow at 11,000 rpm and 200 mph??? Has anyone with a 2012 zx14r seen a difference in performance at mid and top end with them out vs in????

Also I noticed that with all my mods (everything that Brock offeres including the CT megaphone exhaust) minus the BST wheels, my bike starts to wheelie at about 9,500 rpm in 1st gear when rolling on at full throttle from a dead stop. Is this about right or am I missing some power? It doesn't wheelie in second after shifting. It is lowered 1/2" in the front and 2" in the rear. I remember my old 2003 busa. I couldn't keep that thing on the ground.

She's almost finished!!!!!!!

Thanks guys!!!!!!

I woulve thought @ swb u would wheelie @ least 2nd as well, especially with the numbers n times these guys r showing, plus my 07 is lowered the same n after I removed flies the wheel lifts at bout 6-6500

I have just put them back in with Brocks lastest flash but i have not been back to the track to test them .. Brocks said there is few extra HP up top, i want all the HP as i can get so i put them back in ..

Not to 'jack the thread but I'd like to know about the low-end power, right off idle to under 6K, for the same 'flies in/'flies out question for street riding. Any takers that have played w/it? Power, response, mpg, anything?

Do a search, plenty of threads on fly removal benefits, depending on year will determine How much of an improvement you'll see, Brock's has a nice (tried/tested) writeup in his low end diary test between TRE n fly removal

Well as far as wheelies go Im stock and the the bike will pwr wheelie 1st and 2nd. My buddy whos a dirt bike rider can go thru the first 3 gears in Ktac 1 and ride on the back wheel. Im not sure whats going on with you and the bike but I can pull that front tire up pretty easy in 2nd without thinking about it. Not something I care to do much of anyway but its np on mine.

As far as low end power. All you have to do is roll that throttle nice and smooth and she'll reward you with arm stretching velocity. The bike pulls from the get go as far as Im concerned and thats stock. Once your RPMs get into the 5000 to 6000 range you better hang on. The bike is pretty smooth right out of the box, its not perfect but its much smoother than my 2011 ZX14 with Ivan's Tre/ full Yoshi R77and Power Cmder 5.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'm just paranoid. You know when you spend all that money and wonder if it's right? Especially when you do it all yourself. My roll-ons in first gear were from a dead stop, smooth clutch engagement at about 3,000 rpm and I was sitting forward on the bike. I wasn't sitting back trying to power wheelie. Maybe it has something to do with suspension and geometry of the newer bikes.

Take care!

good question. Before the beer and wings I'm 207 and 6'. The bike does come up at about 9,500 rpm in first when I'm tucked low and forward. Not second. I'm probably riding it like a weenie. It was really a test to feel the power band. It seems to be a bit flat in the midrange. A good power surge down low and above 8,000. 5-7K is very linear and not "seat of the pants" in the gears 3-6. I would say that I really feel the accelleration in 4th gear above 6K. 1st through 3rd is so quick It doesn't seem to pull as hard. Maybe it's perception. There are no mirrors on the bike and I have flush signals. Yes, I know I sound like a confused newbie. It's hard to explain a perceived feeling in text.

From my understanding it doesn't make as much a difference on 2010 as it did 06-07 models n with a flashed ecu on a 2012 its unnecessary for removal cause they r programmed to open much earlier, I found it easy to ride on my 07 after removal just a much stronger pull n lower rpms, lord knows I had enough of that on my 12

Guhl's said that on the 2012 there seems to be a higher air velocity through the throttle boddies with the secondaries in; that is why Brock's dyno test shows a couple more horsepower on top with them in vs out. I sent my ecu back to Guhl's to get the re-flash update and will reinstall the secondaries. Then I'll get some tires on my BST's!
