What are your thoughts

A Soldier of mine has a 2008 Hayabusa for sell and offered it to me for $6000, the bike has never been raced other than on the street at a high rate of speed, never layer down, and only has slip-ons. The reason he is selling it is because he wants a turbo Busa. Oh and the bike has 25k miles.

I am not a Busa guy but it does not sound unfair, sounds like a good deal after looking up the prices on the net but most of the bikes I saw only had 4-10K miles. Personally I do not know of the "Busa issues", or things to check.... Hopefully he has receipts for service. If you are not good friends with this guy, I would bring it to the dealer and have them give it a once over to make sure

At first I'd be a little afraid of the miles on it depending on what you intend to do with it. But then I just bought a bike with a lot more miles on it than that and it's still very solid chassis-wise and the motor has been rebuilt several times keeping it race ready. I'd take a 2nd gen Busa for 6K and be happy. BTW, if he wants a turbo Busa why not just call up RCC and use what he has??? I've got a stock 1st gen Busa with a turbo from RCC and it's tons-o-fun.

6k is fair price.. I would not be too concern at mileage.. I will check into condition of the bike.. ask him what kind of maintenance he has done to the bike.. look for any oil leak, chain, sprockets , any valve adjustment, spark plugs, etc . Etc...you want to spend at least of money on those things as possible..look for fork leak, brake pads, warp rotors..
I just bought me a 05 busa with 14k on it for 6500.00 with two helmets , bike cover, Suzuki matching jacket and two bike stands and bunch of mods...mint condition and no need to spend a penny on it..

+1

I can't seem to run across those either...

If you can get one for 6k you better jump on it. And 25,000 miles is nothing for a Busa. It may seem "high" due to all the garage queens sitting around with 3000 miles on them because they never get ridden, but as far as the life of the motor, it's nowhere near high. That's like saying your not gonna buy an 08 Honda Civic because it has 25,000 miles and the mileage is to high. Modern Japanese inline 4-cylinder motors last forever (not forever but you know what I mean)

My bad the o6 07 go go for around 6k way less miles yea its an 08 but look at the miles not saying its fixing to die its just a lot for an 08 if your going to spend 6 on that why not an 06-07 for under 6 with lots less miles. And just look on Craigslist list Austin or Houston there was a lowered stretched painted 05 with less then 10k in corpus for 5500

There's a big difference in bikes between 06-07 and a 08.
That's like comparing a 2011 zx14 to a 2012zx14.

painted= crashed... low miles due to track use.. most likely has engine trouble or transmissions issues.. but hey sounds like a deal it was on craiglist after all.. theres very few true deals on craiglist and when there is its scoop up by resalers and relisted... scam central

06-07 (Gen 1) and 08 (Gen 2) are two complete different animals. I look on Houston Craigslist on a daily basis and have yet to find a Gen 2 for 6k that wasn't either wrecked or a scam.
