Need a 14 Forum Page
Since the introduction of the 14R we may need to start a new Forum to separate the two bikes. Jmo, some may not think so but we are talking about two different bikes.

I like it the way it is rather than having to jump between two forums.

The way it is works well and the bikes are very close with many interchangable parts.

Most all the bolt-on interchange pipe, wheels, shifter, ect, but most of the motor parts are different very few are the same like the outer clutch basket is the same as 08-11.

The engine (for the most part) is different as is most of the plastic. Most of the rest of the bike is interchangable. I have used early handle bar risers, windscreen, shortened side stand, lowering links, clutch and brake levers, etc. from early models. Next is rear sets that fit both bikes. I guess that if you don't own one, you wouldn't know and it wouldn't matter to you anyway.

I like the Gen 1 for long road trips, it's much smoother. There is no need to down shift on the 14R to pass someone though, it has a boat load of torque. Still I don't much care for the Monoblock design. Would like it more if you could just change pistons without a major tear down.

I wasn't trying to cause any problems here it was only a suggestion. I own a zx14 and I have ridden the Zx14r by far the only comparison is probably the tires, the oil you use, the gas you put in it, the heating issues, similarity in the motor design, the brakes, and the handling. As far as bar ends, helo risers, etc ok whatever, let's look at the motor. Let's look at the throttle bodies, let's look and the slipper clutch. Sure you can stroke or bore it which ever you prefer but the bottom line is this there is reason they call it a ZX14R and a ZX14, the pistons, the stroke, etc. Or am I missing something. My suggestion was merely to clear all the ZX14r post so that when you go to the ZX14 forum your not scrolling down, next page, scroll down next page only to find what someone may have posted in relative to your ZX14. Again JMO..

I think it should stay like it is.
We have ZX14r owners here that have owned ZX14s, and have a great deal of knowledge about them. Therefor, we don't want to lose that to another forum.
We also have new ZX14r owners that can learn "A LOT" from guy that own ZX14s.
If you have a question about your bike, just ask, as a collective body, this forum "as is" is your best chance of getting the right answer.

Colt, I agree with you entirely from the opposite direction. I have not owned a 14, just the 14R. I sill have learned a great deal from the ZX14 guys and am very grateful for their shared knowledge.

I think there should be a seperate '14R' section.
Especially with the rocket launchers and after market pipes - ECU fixes that have taken up a lot of posts for only the 14R.
