killer14, forget trying to pin the throttle before you even move, you're not ready for that, just go at your own pace, you're not going to become really fast on one pass, take small steps, you'll get it.

quote: i always stage at about 7k rpm (i didn't read the entire post where u said 8k rpm...my bad) , when the last light goes yellow i pin it and slide the clutch, but i'm out the clutch in about a bike length. it's all a matter of seat time, and getting used to what your bike is going to do. also are you leaving your feet down until your in second gear ? if not your should. don't bring them up till late in second gear. and what ever you do, if it wheelies, don't just chop the gas.....hit the airshifter and short shift. watch a few guys oil down the track and you'll really appreciate that bit of advice.
yeah my feet are down till around second gear im just gonna get some seat time and practice thanks for the advice i need it lol

I just went tuesday for the first time in a couple of years. Our setup is close except the gearing. and I'm 225lb's dressed. I was running a 1.5 60' 9.7? @ 140ish. I dont know what I was leaving at but it was above 8k and when the last yellow light came on gas was open and I was slipping till just past the tree. Its nice to see I am close to what most people run with a close setup.

Ya what tire are you running and at what psi. ? I have a pilot road 3 and dropped it to 12psi in order to get down to 1.5. I spun twice but I think that was my fault for not getting fully in the grove.
I cant see how a better tire would help me. I am coming out as hard as I can without it coming up and I am not spinning. I do good burnout and pull right to the line.

I might go back tomorrow night, and try to win or make a little money lol. I was real consistant at 9.7-9.8. I'll check and see what I launch at and let you know. it was more of going by the sound or the engine.

Lol...I just tried not to think about it too much, it still scared the shit out of me the first time though. I just made sure to keep my hand on the clutch so I could pull it in if the bike came up to high. My bike is 66".
ok wish me luck tired of going slow lol
did you go to the track?

Save your money instead of rims and a battery. Spend it on going to the track. You know what they say.....seat time. It costs way less than rims too.

Yep.
With seat time you can get your 60's to low 1.4 and high 1.3's. It took me a while to do it but we have very close setups. I can be done, it jus takes time to figure out what gearing you like.
