Go back to the track and stay at 6500 all night, consintrate on your clutch action, getting it out quick enough that the bike doesn't bog and not staying on the clutch so long you drag it. Same rpm every pass, Get lots of runs if possible. Video if you can and study it at home, you will be able to hear what you need to do, 60ft times will improve ! Let us know how you do...

I'm by no means as experienced as some of the guys on here (only been back on the track for three months) but I was having the same issue until two weeks ago. I couldn't get past 1.69 to 1.73 60ft times. I felt like I was doing everything right. A couple weeks ago I was at the track and one of our well known grudge racers was there watching me. He said I was getting the clutch out quick enough but I wasn't opening the throttle fast enough. He said I needed to pin the throttle as soon as I leave but I was just rolling it. His words were "Jerk that fucking throttle like it owes you money". So the next pass I tried it. I staged at about 6200 then pin the throttle as soon as the bike moves then let the clutch do all the work. It was a little nerve racking using that technique and going wide open like that but my 60' immediatly dropped to a 1.56. My next two passes were both 1.55 60' then I had to leave for the night. I'm hoping to be in the low 150's-high140's in the next couple weeks. Just something to think about.

roll the throttle smooth, trying to go wot asap, take your time when starting out, if it makes you uncomfortable doing it just go at you own pace, the goal is to improve your time every outing, even if it's in small increments,

seat time, seat time.

Slowly get more agressive,

1. set the pre stage light

2. bring you rpms up to the point you want them

3. slowly let out of the clutch until you feel the bike tring to pull you forward very slowly.

4. set the stage light, and bearly pull the clutch in just enough to stop the bike from moving forward(you can use your feet (a little) to help stop it from pulling forward) .

5. on the green light pin the throttle, and use the clutch to control the power of the bike. Be smooth and careful.

Lol...I just tried not to think about it too much, it still scared the shit out of me the first time though. I just made sure to keep my hand on the clutch so I could pull it in if the bike came up to high. My bike is 66".

i always stage at about 7k rpm (i didn't read the entire post where u said 8k rpm...my bad) , when the last light goes yellow i pin it and slide the clutch, but i'm out the clutch in about a bike length. it's all a matter of seat time, and getting used to what your bike is going to do. also are you leaving your feet down until your in second gear ? if not your should. don't bring them up till late in second gear. and what ever you do, if it wheelies, don't just chop the gas.....hit the airshifter and short shift. watch a few guys oil down the track and you'll really appreciate that bit of advice.
