Confused on slip-on compatability...14 vs14R

One site is listing 2008-2012 as the same part number for slip-ons. I'm a bit confused, I thought the 2006-2011 were the same and the major change was with the new 2012. If anyone has insight, please post up. I'm considering a set of used slipons until I can set the bike up properly with a full system, pc, & flash.

Thanks
L2M

i think full line from 06-11 on 2012 = OK , for example : akra full line OK, or YOSH USA

but TIFORCE says me : NOT ...

for slip-on 06-11 on 2012, i don't think so ... modification obligatory

I've read so many different threads...

Just looking for something used that looks & sounds good for now...and bolts up with no drama. I should have brought all of my tools overseas with me.

Slip-on wise, I think you have M4, 2Bros, Akra, Muzzy and maybe Brock's to chose from. That said, pretty sure none of the "old" ('06-'11) slip-on's bolt up on a 2012. Most of what I have seen is so close to cost of full system (Akra is over $2K for slip-ons, btw!), I couldn't see the $ to do it, but that is me. Good luck finding something that works for you.

This is exactly why I started this thread. I've read from multiple sites that the 06-07 have different diameter than the 08-11....which I believe is the same as the 2012. And, I really like the dual pipes...which is out of character for me.

As for cost, its apples and oranges. Once you add the cost of a PCV and tuning, there is a Huge difference in price and time spent. Right now, the bike is plenty fast, I'm just interested in a quick fix to the ugly....and since I'm overseas, I don't want to eat the shipping by having to send back something that doesn't fit. If it doesn't fit, I have to get it modified, and I'm not in the US, so it makes things a bit more complicated getting quality work done on my bike.

Back to reading up on the subject...

This is what the 08-11 slip ons look like on the current model.

The difference is the mid pipe, Yoshi currently make either a full system RH exit or a range of slip ons for the current model, go to their web page for more info.

Here is a pic with the new mid pipe fitted with R77 mufflers.

I just installed a set of two brothers slip-ons on mine, I bought them from my Buddy who got them with a gen 2 Busa he just bought. the cans where the same for the Busa or the 14 as well as can's from an older 14. But the mid pipes from the first gen 14's to the 2012 are different. I ordered just the mid pipes from two brothers for the install. I need to call back and order the noise reducers as they are way loud but the like way nice and saved alot of weight and seeing how this is not my race bike I did not need a full system and tune.

anyone try a stock 08-11 set of muffler's on a 2012 14r?

I'd rock that, since its bound to be quiet still, and at least I'd loose the cats. I like the chrome, older stock pipes.

Now that would be interesting...I think the midpipe and all will fit that 2012 collector on there.I had the stock header on my 2012...and used a Vance&Hines midpipe...which was designed for the 2011 stock header collector piping. The diameter fit.And the V&H was a slip on...so.....I think the stock midpipe will fit.NOW...not sure about the hanger fitment(s).That would be kinda cool though...having those chrome mufflers on there.Probably look pretty good too.Don't know about the engine performance with those on there.May not be good...IDK.Give it a go Rod...if I had my old pipes...I'd try it,just for the heck of it.This motor IS different however...tuned different.....IDK.

blue07, thanks for the input. I would just go for it, but I hate to spend a few hundred on a set of TO's. and have them not work. maybe have to ask around locally to see if anyone still has some.

ok, I thought it was only in the midpipe or the collector, either way; they still look better.

@LTM...I was surprised to see the Brock's piping parts were labeled...2011 and 2010.The header was definitely different, but the mating parts from the header back were the earlier tagged pipe parts.?????I'm now wondering IF my Vance and Hines Mufflers will fit onto the midpipe diameter outlet. The Muffler on the Brock's is definitely larger...I mean...the exhaust pipe(muffler) outlet diameter...the Vance and Hines were looking like the factory outlet diameter.Which wouldn't be so good...having a single as it is now.
