zx14 with slider missing 3rd gear need help / advice
I have a 2008 zx14 stock engine, stretched about 8" over, air shifter, sb6, PC3 usb, strapped and lowered in front, Shinko rear tire, shifting at 10,500, MTC slider, im approx. 220 suited, 100% drag bike no street use.
I have been missing 3rd gear for quite some time now. I have a list of things ive changed to try to take things out of the equation.
1. Changed from 16/45 gearing to 16/50, no help, missed 3rd with both setups
2. New rear tire, no help
3. Changed shift point, went from 10,500 to 10,700 actually missed many gears!
4. Changed weight on slider arms, from 18 grams to 15 grams per arm, no help, thinking of going down to 12 grams
Also I built the air shifter using grainger parts and im going to try a bigger air ram, I have 1/2" or 3/4" diameter now, going to try 1" diameter. I am regulated to about 150-170 psi to the shifter, using CO2.
Does anyone have any ideas of what else I can look at to try and fix this?!?!? HELP!!!

mine started out would mis-shift once out of 20 passes then got to 1 in 5 passes i blamed it on alot of things .tire pressure ,track prep, air pressure, auto shifter, rachet and shift star, air sileniods, me, replaced everything 1 piece at a time except ME .. the cure was a race cut transmission ..
PS i ran a hays in hand slider mode and if i put to much kill time (250mls) it would unload the clutch which i taught would help the mis-shift..

your cylinder looks too long and may not be making a full shift ..shifter bottoming out before full shift

No thats never been a problem 1bad.
Im starting to wonder if the CO2 bottle is getting way to hot going to all gas or something... I noticed the pressure lately has been getting up to about 1800psi. Its been really hot lately. But im thinking about it, at night and morning runs im not missing 3rd gear... Seem like the hot part of the day. I may put the bottles in a cooler with ice and see if that is whats wrong.

Are u running your air pressure above 120 psi. at the regulator? Im 165lbs suited with 55ms on the sb6 engine kill and 70" long. Make sure that pressure is staying up at the regulator. just my 2cents

I'm with 1bad on this one ... Move your ram back to the hole that you are not using ..Then move the shifter arm down one spline down .. That should let you get a good full pull on the shifter ..
You need to have the ram centered ... If the ram is 3 inch ram ( 3 inch travel ) you need it at 1 and 1/2 inches centered at rest .. Pull the ram out half way and mark it with a with a felt tip marker .. Then put it back on the bike and see where you are .. If it's not on the mark make the adjustments needed to put it on the mark ..Doing this will give you pleanty of movement up shifting and down shifting .. If your ram is only a two inch ram you need a ram with move movement ..
Yours look to not have the room needed to make a complete up shift before you run out of ram .. Also check the clevis , sometimes the clevis hit the shifter arm and stops the ram travel .. If this is the case look for marks on the shifter arm where the clevis is hitting the arm .. You also want the ram to be as staight up as you can get it , yours looks is leaning back to much .. Here is a picture of mine going into second gear , you can see i have ram left over so i get a full pull in the arm ..
Shifter at rest with 1 and 1/2 inch of ram showing on my 3 inch ram .. In order to get mine centered i had to move my shifter arm down one spline and move the ram closer to the inside of the arm .. You can see where i drilled the hole and that was too far out and that looks close to what you are using now ..
This might not be all of your problems but it is a good place to start ....

make sure the shifter is not binding. it has to fall freely after each gear to reset before it can shift to the next gear.
