@ your wieght, I don't think 15/48 will let you stay in the peak rpm range long enough to benifit you. I think you will run out of gear before the end of the 1/4 mile. It will be ok for the 1/8.
However, the only way to really know is to try it.
Ps: I think you should check to make sure you clutch is not slipping to much. you may need stiffer clutch springs.

For us when we were at 65" wheelbase, Sam (240ish suited) would wheelie badly even with only 16-45 gearing. I just think you're pushing the limits at 16-48. Can you go WOT in 1st or 2nd gear? We couldn't and ran the best times at that wheelbase with only 16-43 gearing. I know every combo is different but that's our experience.

15/48 is going to be too much at 6".
Seat time, seat time, and some more seat time. Not everyone has the natural ability to go fast the first time out like a few of the members here.

joel787,
What elevation is your track at? The higher your DA the less likely you will run into issues with wheelies. 15/48 still seems a bit much for 1/4 mile tho.

I dont know if 15-48 would run all the way through. I was gonna try 15-47 but had not gotten around to it.
