Am I feeling the slipper?

bike is 3 weeks old and has 300 miles. Noticed last night riding home from work running up through the gears when accelerating hard I was feeling a slight "hit" just after the clutch was let fully out.

Another clutch question and I probably should take a picture. clutch fluid in the resivoir is noticealby darker than the fluid in the brake resivoir, turning orangish. is this something to be concerned with?

slipper does not work that way....

if you are running 60 miles an hour and downshift to 1st and let the clutch out....the rear wheel should not lock up....it allows the rear wheel to continue to roll instead of locking up.

When you downshift at higher rpms to lower gears the slipper clutch kicks in and keeps the rear tire in check hence making the bike more managable. Slipper clutch aka back torque limiter. If you were to downshift at high rpms to a lower gear without the slipper your rear tire has the high chance of sliding sideways, hopping or chattering. Granted if you downshift graually at a pace then your chances of having something happen like i mentioned will not happen. Espeially.if you downshift straigt to lower gears and just dump the cluth then the slipper comes into play alot....

it is not a hit as in the flies openning or a power related surge. it is a hit you feel in the driveline a split second after the clutch is fully out. I don't feel it in a normal cruising around type shift, only under hard acceleration.

Hmm, do you have TC on? Is it under acceleration? deceleration? both?

TC was off and I only remember it accelerating. I know I'm not explaining this well at all. Basically a split second after clutch is all the way out it feels like slack is being taken up. I think chain is good.

It could also be air in the hydraulic system.

5900 miles on my 14R...orangish color as well...not abnormal(but I should change it kinda soon 'just because').I noticed a teensy tiny 'catch' feeling when I pull(ed) the clutch lever all the way in and released normally.Almost unnoticable...but it's there. It will only do this about once a ride...when I clutch and do it that way. After that...it doesn't happen again...for a long while.MAYBE during the same ride...but not one after another clutching.I stopped pulling the clutch all the way in...only about 1/2 inch or so.That works very nicely for me.Excellent shifting feel doing it like that...even less if I remember to.

This is with "F" and KTRC "1"...IDK if it does it with any other settings...I'll see next ride.

I will bleed the clutch this weekend. blue07 I also noticed if I just barely pull the clutch it shifts much nicer than if I pull the clutch all the way in.

Thanks for the replies.

Ya...me too...it's just difficult(for me) to get used to NOT pulling that lever in farther than I need to

i never pull the lever all the way in... i adjust my lever just enough to where i can pull with 2 fingers and pull it in to shift... thats when i decide to use the clutch. i mostly do clutchless shifting.

Ya...clutchless shifting....I WAS doing a lot of that...BUT....I decided to work on my 'small pull' clutch lever technique.I will still clutchless shift like in midcorner or faster acellerations and such...but I've really toned down the clutchless deal.Don't really know why...just a change up I guess.
