The only way I'm gonna part with this machine is if some asswipe in a cage kills her and she is beyond resurrection.
Otherwise when the motor loses steam I'll just build her bigger and badder

First off, congrats on the milestone bro as it speaks volumes about you and the bike. I intend to do something similar with the Green SE 14R I have coming shortly. That said, what oil did you find you liked most? I am a Mobil 1 guy myself, but never have clocked that many miles on a bike.

huh? Lee has probably the highest miles on the love of his life ...and you spell send it to the crusher in his thread??
The question posed was "I wonder what a dealer would offer you on trade in?" and I answered that he would probably be offered more at the scrap yard than he would on a trade in. (probably true, if he parted out the other non metallic items). These are simply the facts. I wasn't ordering him to go crush the "love of his life" as you call it. No need to get emotional on me. Did you forget to take your Midol today darling?

I'm guessing your right he would get more on a part out. But if I had that bike I would have to go to a dealer and ask about a trade then see there faces when they see the miles! but I want to see him go 100,000 plus on that engine with no major work!

Thanks!
Well for about 50K I tried the lucas motorcycle synthetic. I liked it . But I stopped using it shortly after when finding it became a problem. No one carried a good supply of it! So I switched to royal purple. Same thing happened there . Guess I should have bough them by the case lol. But it sucked to go try and change the oil only to find 2 or maybe 3 or no quarts on the shelf . So that got old . Then around the 50k mark I started seeing threads around this site about shell rotella 5-40 synthetic and how it can be found in gallon sizes at walmart. For around $20 too!
Been stuck on it ever since.
I also add a little lucas oil stabilizer to the oil just for good measure.
The oil always comes out looking pretty good and still feels like oil!
Good stuff!

117 K wow that's pretty impressive. My VFR died at 121,377. I considered putting money into her but with the new 09 doing great I decided to let the 02 go. Looked good at the end but the cost to get her running again was just not worth it. I did own her for over 10 years and that is the first time that had happened.
Great Job

That's great wear! Had to replace mine at 70K, too much wear for my comfort.

Yeah I've been checking them pretty regular and they were always wearing flat . There's still the wear line on the pads. The only real reason for changing the pads is they started to squeal and it annoyed me enough to change them lol
