I am considering buying a ZX14R. A few questions.
I am considering buying a ZX14R and have a few questions. Brief history: I am 6'4'' and 225 pounds. I have owned a motorcycle most of my life and had a 2004 busa until last summer. However, I turned 50 in August and thought it was time to move on to a "crusier". I guess I felt I was getting to old for a sport bike (back and wrists not like they use to be). I sold the busa and bought a 2012 Fatboy. It is a nice "cruiser", but I miss the acceleration rush, etc. you get with a supersport bike. Basically, I am not that happy with it and have been considering buying a ZX14R. I came in from a ride last night and my wife said, "I know you are not completely happy with that bike, so why don't you get that black ZX14 you have been drooling over for Father's Day" What a wife!!!
How many of you guys are around my age, height and weight and still ride this beast. Are you happy with it or are you getting close to considering a cruiser? Overall, how comfortable is it on the wrists, back and butt? If any of you have owned a busa, is it more comfortable than it? Most of my riding is about an hour or two at a time. I do plan on keeping my Fatboy so I would have it to ride on longer rides. Thanks for you help!!!

41, 6'3" 315lbs. I owned a 2007 zx14 for 3.5 years, sold it and considered other bikes such as a Concours 14 or Harley. Ended up going with a 2012 ZX14. Put the same risers on it I had on my 07. Rode it 90 miles today and it was fine. Just ordered the throttlemeister Cruise Control which allows you to shake out the right hand occasionally. You wont be dissapointed with a 2012 ZX14. They are more comfortable than Busa's anyway, go for it.

Well I'm 41 6 foot 2 and 200lbs. I thought I wanted a cruiser a few years back and bought one a HD as well. I hated it, did not even want to go for rides anymore. went back to sport bikes and there's no cruiser in my future ever again. all of my friends are older then me and all ride sport bikes. As far as the 14r I have 603 miles on mine and it's by far the best bike I have owned hands down. wife and I did a 265 mile poker run on it the first weekend I had it and we loved it. shes been on it for 450 miles of the 603. the 14r is way more comfortable then the gen 2 busa. I've owned 3 gen 2 busa's.

I was curious as to what kinda of seat You can can for the ZX14R, and a Concours seat fits eh, can You as well get the back seat cover over the Concours seat still?? 2 teeth on the back sprocket seems like a popular choice as well. I was curious with the big power if changing the gearing was needed.... Im now going down to buy the ZX14R, Ive been very turned off by previous 14 models, but I sure am pleased with this new bike... the fit and finish is much better, electronic goodies, finally decent stock rims, and the ability to run the drag strip when a person wants!
One question thou... did I read off the Kawi site, something about "Oil Injection under the pistons to allow higher compression ratio's"?? Im just enjoy learning everything about all the models of Bikes, and this is a question I can't seem to find an answer about....
Sure My buddy has a BMW S1000RR and what a bike to ride, but I was peaked when one motorcycle article compared the ZX14R engine smoothness to an old CBR1100XX like I ride, and have never given up on, even thou owning many other bikes at the same time. I hope to find many interesting details about the new 14R off the site.

I am 6'-4" , 210 lbs. also 56 years young, I am used to riding my 2010 ZX-14 without any discomfort. Maybe you can add the foot peg lowering kit and the handlebar risers. You can read more about them on the links I've included.

Kinda new around here. More into sport touring than anything else so hope these guys don't mind me hanging out and learning a lot about this great machine. Special thanks to Smokin Lee for his helpful video while I installed my Brocks AH2 and PCV. 52, 6' 295lbs. 300,000 miles under me on 10 different brands and several Iron Butt rides. I had planned on only using the Corbin seat for my frequent passenger duty but its so nice I doubt the stock seat will make it back on the bike. ZX14R is one of the best.

47 yoa, 6'-01", 190, a bazillion bikes and a bazillion miles. The 14R is a great, comfortable street sportbike...IF you're used to sportbikes to start w/. Very highly recommended.
Enjoy.

Hey Chicken Strips, I sure like that Brocks pipe even more now, is that the StreetMeg Pipe, and is it a complete system, or a muffler replacement. I email Brocks and am waiting for an answer on that exact question. As well that Corbin with the removable backrest sure is a great system as well. My wife always insists on My Bikes having that comfort upgrade for Touring. Anyway Great Bike.

Thanks for the compliment. The pipe is Brocks Alienhead 2. Running great at 5000 feet elevation with PC 5 , Brocks street map 2 which the version 1 did seem to run rich especially at lower rpm's but where can you open this bike up unless your on the strip, so far it seems to have helped. Amazing machine.

The cover is Bagster brand from France. I purchased through Donnington Moto in England. The also make several different sized bags that clip to it and top drawer stuff.
