C'mon Hagrid...it's a valid question....I'm Joe-A...less than that really....and I need a valid answer other than the manual.It's like those swingarm hash marks...you know...they aren't to be trusted either

just keep 36 in them and check the pressure every 3 weeks or so. Or run 70 lbs lol, just don't let them get under inflated ..

I wouldn't do it Montana....they aren't designed for pressures that high. I'd wonder if that kind of pressure extended over the winter might not weaken the tire...then when you decide to unleash the most powerful production bike on the planet in spring, your tires decide to unleash themselves from the cords If you're worried about flat spotting tires don't be....I've stored and bought stored bikes that have sat on their tires for YEARS with no issues whatsoever.......except the tires got a little hard lol. Same with cars. Add seafoam to a full tank of gas, hook up the battery tender and yer good till spring

Ya...I know...I just really wanted to get some expert advice about the actual safety of filling a tire rated at 42PSI to a psi of 70...which was 'recommended' by someone who 'thought' they'd give some 'good advice' to a new guy one time.I personally wouldn't...nor would I tell someone else to do it..basically for the exact reasons YOU stated. Thanks all...it was just a little 'confirmation' for me about the 'quality' of advice on these forums sometimes.Don't get me wrong..it wasn't confirmation for THIS website...but about something said on another bike site.

zx12 asked"why 70?"...this other guy's adamant answer...'so when Spring comes...you won't have to check your tire pressure...it'll have bled out to around 42-45 psi..and you can just start riding without having to deal with pressure adjusting"
I guess the sidewall 'max tire pressure' info stamped into the tire is just there for shits and giggles
