[Q] is there a way to get ABS on '12 model in US
With no solution to the lack of anti-lock brakes for the US model (and I want to get a bike this year) -- wanted to ask:
is there a way for me to purchase the bike in Canada with ABS -- will it be legal in US ? and what cost
Also may be I can purchase the bike in a state close to Canada border, then drive it there and have it installed somehow ?
Just looking for option
thx in advance

The 14R doesn't come with ABS in Canada either. Or it's not on the Canadian Kawasaki website at least.

I'd imagine you could buy the bike and have the ABS unit shipped and installed... You'd think that it would mount right up, but then again it might not.
Sounds like too much trouble to me.... Does bazazz make an ABS module? I know they make traction control and stuff like that. Just thinking out loud.

Anyone in the US know why there's no ABS model available?
Here, the UK, you can't buy one without it.

ECU and wiring loom would be needed as well as ABS pump and Controller and a whole load of plumbing.
Good question BobC..

90vTwin personally I dont think you would need ABS the brakes on these new 14R's are so good go and test ride one for yourself and decide if you need ABS.

from what i have found out so far,
You will ne an ABS control module (computer)
The looms and plugs are already there on all models they are just unused on the US models.
you would also need the ABS pump and plumbing. From what i am finding out all the mounts and everything are there they are just unused.
I have not found a place as of yet where the parts can be easily purchased.

ABS sucks donkey dick, it's barely controllable on a car. Any bad road surface makes it impossible to stop quickly as it activates the abs & don't even think about trying to stop quickly on dirt, it wont happen. ABS was invented by safety nazis for those idiots who can't drive, go take a race school class instead & learn how to control your vehicle. Hopefully the morons here won't mandate this stupid shit on our bikes like so many european counties have. Fuck ABS & safety nazis.

Drivers are on tarmac 99% of te time when involved in accidents (most are obviously in medium to heavy populated areas).
My dad never thought he needed ABS since it ever came out. Always said he can brake 'just fine' on his own. Last year (he's now 67), he had to slam his brakes on (other car shot a red light), and he couldn't believe that his car (SUV), could have stopped like it did.
He admits that he just couldn't have reacted like that.
ABS isn't for everybody - but it's designed to do what it says - brake the vehicle automatically.
And if it only works once when you need it, then it's a good day!
