Hahahaha that will certainly do it zxninja!!!

It's a simple fix to a common problem - works wonders. KHI should modify their design to use oil to dampen the VDS. Hmmmm maybe we should get a patent on it?

Ok here is a few pictures of how i took mine apart. I hope this helps..

Patrick
Tip Over Sensor

I took a small flat head screw driver and separated the top insert from the bottom insert. Separate them just enough to get a larger flat head in between the two pieces.

Once you get that popped up a little bit place a larger screw driver and place it on the side and twist.

If you twist the screw driver enough you will hear it pop free.
once it does lift up and pull straight out.

After you remove it take oil and fill the bottom piece up to the shaft that the wheel is located on. I used 10w30 that i had left over from my oil change that i did on my car. It has worked fine for me.

Then reinstall the cap and re mount to the bike. and plug the wire harness back into the sensor.

If you have any issues with the top looking like it does not want to stay closed you can easily take a small zip tie and go around the sensor to hold it closed. Some people prefer to glue it shut, i prefer a zip tie so i can remove it again if i need to down the road. If i were to glue it i would have a harder time opening it back up for any reason.

I hope the pictures help, Any questions or anything i left out chime in or let me know..

Hi Everyone
I recently bought a ZX14R ABS special edition (2014 model). It is making the buzzing noise from 3000 - 4000 rpm and so I've been looking online to see how to resolve it. I tried the suggestion of using sewing oil in the vehicle down sensor however this has not solved it. I am at a loss as to what it might be and how to resolve. I got the bike serviced a couple of weeks back (1000 km service) and they guy at Kawasaki Nerang couldn't detect the noise. It is hard to miss so not sure how hard he was listening. It is very obvious between 3000 - 4000 rpm. A ticking/buzzing noise, definitely sounds electrical related in my opinion. Any other suggestions would be very appreciated.

Wow a revival of an old thread - cool

Is the buzzing noise coming from behind the dashboard/dials?

If its the VDS making the noise then its not an electrical noise, its a buzzing noise caused from the pendulum device inside the VDS vibrating because its not dampened, and that's what the oil achieves.

If you have another noise it could be an exhaust leak or something else entirely.

Cheers

Hi greggy. I can't pinpoint exactly the source of the buzzing noise but I think it is the dash area. Its definitely front of the bike and very clear and consistent, same rpm all the time. I have ridden the bike without the windscreen on pushed parts of the dash while riding to try and detect any change in the noise but no luck. I added washes to the nuts today that hold the vds on to the metal plate. This made the vds unit more solid as it wasn't that tight. This didn't fix the buzzing noise though. Perhaps I didn't do the oil part correct. I just added the oil in to the chamber as per your instructions. I didn't take anything out of the sensor itself though.
thanks Dallas
