06 zx14 rebuild
I recently purchased a zx14 on craigslist. I bought it as a project bike. It was last riden in January and developed a knock. The guy i bought it from said he immediately shut it down. After dropping the pan and finding a melted rod bearing I removed the whole engine and split the cases. I bought a concours 14 crank with rods on it off ebay. Im getting ready to put it back together but dont have the take out crank yet.
When buying bearings for this crank do physically have to mic each bearing journal and order the bearing that fits within the corresponding range. example brown black blue bearings all a little different. Or can i just go by what color mains and rods were in the failed motor. Im aware im going to have to plastigauge everything I just dont know how builders usually order their bearings.

Concours crank might fit an 08, but i think that it won't work in an 06 without. clutch and tranny. from the Concours

Is the clutch drive gear different on concorse crank.

yeah , the 08 zx-14 and the concours have a different gear. the concours also has a higher output alternator rotor, but I am not sure if the taper is the same for both.
1 bad is the expert on concours stuff if there is any other differences maybe he will chime in.

Your right, 2wheelpros.com gives you the whole P/N. '06 zx14 crank is a 13031-0056 and a concours 14 is a13031-0094. The other websites I was looking at left out the last four digets.

Does anyone know if I can swap in a concours basket in with the crank? It uses the same frictions and same needle bearing as the 06 clutch.

The frictions are thicker on the connie.
