Why do they want to pick out the o-rings instead of just getting a roller chain? Is there an advantage to an o-ring chain with the o-rings removed over a roller chain or is simply so as to avoid breaking the chain and buying and installing a new one? In other words.. can pick out the o-rings while still on the bike?

There is an advantage removing the o-rings from a regular o-ring chain versus a non-oring roller chain.

It is spaced wider between the side plates than a non o-ring, potentially reducing friction.

how to pick the o-rings out?

As a side note: I have lubed with w-d40 and picked up 1-2 mph. I joke with my friends and say " I should change the label to '2MPH in a Can' and sale it for $35.

Yes the side plates are further apart less friction. Go to Autozome and get the red pick kit and spray WD-40 on them and just pick them out with the slightly crooked pic.

Think I'll leave my chain as is.Something tells me...street riding with an o-ringless chain is...well...you know.....on a bike that produces as much HP and tq as THIS baby does.

" potentially reducing friction."....and losing all the factory lube inside those rollers that make it a safer chain from the start! For a powerhouse like THIS anyway.

I mentioned this 230 figure right after the bike was released on another forum...the way the Kawasaki reps didn't want to reveal any numbers per se.Looks like my 'prediction' may come true.I was lookin at those dyno charts of the way the hp was flatlining at a certain RPM...and not dropping off till throttledown.Extending that RPM limit left a pretty nice rpm buffer to develop even MORE HP and tq.IDK...just really seemed possible IMO.

I remember right when the 2012 was released, I predicted Brocks tricked out 14R would be around 222HP & around 212 on pump... "Missed it by That Much"

After you pull them out send the chain to Micro-blue racing and have them bake their proprietary micro-blue race Coating onto the chain. They impregnate this coating into and onto the chain after it has been cryoed. You won't believe the results.

Why don't you just tell us the results?

____________
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
