I've done relatively little riding w/the bike because I've been doing mods and staying away from the possible lean condition w/the CT Smeg and w/o the PC but I hope to find out soon. I'm also interested. If I can squeeze out 40 mpg in easy commuting, I'd be very happy.

Stock, best tank of gas calculated 39, worst was 34.
Also, the dash computer is quite accurate. It was within .5 mpg every time I figured fuel mileage.

That's actually quite surprising. My dash avg mpg was always way too optimistic.

I always averaged in the low 40's when trying to break in the motor but less than that once real world riding kicked in. Got more than a few drag strip passes figured in on the real world riding side.

Shit best I ever get is just over 30mpg. Flies out, Ivan's pc3 map, k&n, area p exhaust, running 87 octane. I hit fuel empty @ 120-130. But it runs great so why mess with it.

Well guys, I'm in Houston and the air is humid but to my surprise my 2012 delivers 40+ mpg during regular commuting. I could never get that with my previous 14. I told a close Friend that I have owned over 35 motorcycles and this bike is the most well rounded bike I have ever owned. Just to mention my past favorites, 86 GSXR 1100, 89 GSXR 1100, 91 ZX11, DID I SAY ZX11 Beast, 98 ZX9, 00 ZX12, 01 ZX9, 02 ZX12, 11 Zx10 and the Best ever ZX14R!

I'm at 32.7 at an average for the last 2,000 miles with mostly driving over 100mph with many many blasts to redline in all gears with my 14R

My 2008 w/ brocks gen 3 exhaust and header, PC3, BMC Air Filter, no flies, and Brocks map only gets ~29 MPG
...but I sure didn't buy this bike for the fuel mileage!

Yeh, my '06 dressed out the same as your '08 only got 36. And that was babying it while commuting. I didn't buy that one or the '12 for gas mileage. But I do ride and commute a lot. I like to get decent mpg if I'm just commuting/riding around. It ain't the end of the world if the '12 doesn't do better, but it sure would be nice. Great bike, regardless.

Has anyone got a gps to see how accurate the fact speedo is? Isn't the speedo tied into the odometer? Would that have anything to do with the avg mpg?

Mine figured out at 8.5% from a gps to set my speedo healer correct for a 17/42 set up. Never checked it out til I changed sprockets so I can't say for stock. I agree, I believe you are adding up mileage faster with out correcting it also as they're connected.

the fuel economy is tied to the speedo. Before I got my speedohealer, the computer said I was getting 42+ mpg. Immediately after I corrected the speedo, the computer said I got about 40 mpg. Granted, I have the 14, not the 14r, but I am sure it is the same.

On rides over 100 miles I average about 44 mpg. Commute about 39.6 and the computer agrees with actual fuel used. My 07 lied like a rug, stock was only 32 mpg at an average, and reported much higher. The new 14R is a total sweet machine. Doesn't lie and is turbo fast.

My speedo is 3 mph fast. 60 mph indicated = 57 gps mph. The odometer is perfect according to highway mile markers.
