1badzx12r what bike do u even ride????? and no genius 06-11 calls for 87. alot of posts but not to smart. I bet more than half of your posts are just smartass comments. Get a life computer tough guy.

shawnski i agree with you,but u should not put 87 in the new 14r with that comp. I'm sorry it might run it but not good for the bike and pistions,he'll see

i glad i get to quote your dumbass ..now go start another thread for guys that own 06-2011 model zx14 and ask them to tell you what that sticker next to the gas cap says .. 90 + octane .. shows how much you know ..
i use E85 on a turbo bike i've run 8.30's and have 835lbs of equipment doing it on 290rwhp on 8lbs of boost .. my bike has 50,000 miles on it and 1000's of passes .. i race every weekend and ride week days you got nothing for me .. tough guy
i've learnt how to put fuel in my bike at age 10 and didn't ask a forum on what to use..

Yeah, I tried to stay out of this foolishness, but there is just too much misinformation being thrown around as fact.
1bad is correct. From the 06 owner's manual: 90 octane minimum.
Guess what? From the 2012 owner's manual: 90 octane minimum.
Also compression ratio is 12.0 on the older models and 12.3 on the 2012.
That said, many people have used 87 octane in the older models with maximum performance and no issues, myself included.

Actually do some research eklispe is not the only one running only 87. I have in my last 5 bikes I drag race. 3 zx 14's and 2 gen 2 busa's. my buddy has 5600 miles on his gen 2 Busa and it's only ever had 87 in it and he has 2200 passes on it as well at the track in that 5600 miles. before you call some one foolish maybe you should check and see what guys are actually doing. mine now has the head milled 20 for even more compression and I use 92 now.

it's hard to tell if you are serious, your bike says run 87, Kawasaki says run 90+? huh? It's been known for years lower octane makes more power, that's why we run 87, Brock has tested the 14r and says it likes 89, not 87 or 93. Yes there are allot of drag racers here, street bike riding also applies to racing when you are wanting maximum power from a stock motor, if we find out how to get it, it will work for you on the street.

no wheelie i thought my old 14 said run 87 i've had soo many bikes its hard to keep track. But again im just saying u should run 90+ if thats what kawi calls for,how much more horses are u really going to see if u run 89 really? You could never tell.

Brock will have to answer that, but if it's 2-3 hp and you're racing the same bike as you own every little bit helps.

1badzx12r ok lets start over gixxerjohn comes from people i rode with there was a lot of us and they gave me a nickname.....alot of johns,and i had an 06 gixxer 1000 with a lil work done and it was a beast,so my name has always kind of stuck. Yeah 50,000 miles is serious mileage,but to be honest i sell my bikes after 2 seasons or so,so i dont get a ton of mileage. I have no children and me and my wife have very good jobs,so i buy alot of bikes. But that being said this new 14 is going to be hard to get rid of.
