Clutch cover
Hey guys,
I've done some searching through previous threads, and I checked in the service manual but I wanted to make sure before I start. Is replacing the clutch cover a straight forward task? The manual makes it look like you just remove the bolts and take off the cover. Then to re-install you put silicone and a new gasket put the cover on and replace the bolts. Is it really that simple? Is there any kind of booby traps inside that may fall out if I'm not careful? Should I drain the oil, or is it fine on the side stand? Any info you guys can give me will be much appreciated

Keep it on the side stand and you don't have to drain the oil. I've had mine off a couple of times and haven't replaced the gasket yet. Just be careful with it.

It is a very easy task. No silicone needed. Sometimes you can even get away with reusing your gasket.
Worse case buy a new gasket. Don't overtighten the bolts and squish the gasket out.

Roll your front tire on a 2 x 6 or 2 x 8 and lean the bike over on the kick stand. This way the bike will lean a little more and you won't lose any hole. I have reused my clutch cover gasket many times just don't overtighten the cover bolts.

I am a spelling idiot. I meant that when the bike is leaned over you wont lose any 'oil' not any 'hole'. Sorry about that.
