At 5'7" tall with a 28" inseam, this bike is perfect for me. Got two Goldwings rotting in the garage along with the Triumph and a mix of other machines. Peak HP is great if you don't have to shift gears. I get as many compliments, maybe more than the old Triumph. When I was a young pup the Triumph was the ultimate machine next to the Vincent. How times have changed and thank goodness. The Busa isn't a monoblock which is a great advantage when is comes time to try different pistons. As a stock bike, my 14R SE is the Bee's knees and a bit faster than fuk, OMG, etc.

The 2008 and up 14's stock were known to be bad rich at higher rpm's, they lost power a little past 9 grand like a mofo. In my february 08 MotorCyclist mag on page 59 the 08 14 made 167.2 rwhp at 9250rpm vs the 06 they tested that made 175.7 at 9550rpm. They said the 08's power dumped off after 9250 and was making only 153rwhp at the 10,750rpm redline. It dropped 14.2 hp by then. The air/fuel ratio was 10.5:1
It probably would have been better to run the 14R against a properly afr tuned 2011 14. That bad rich stock high rpm power loss made the new 14R look that much better.
Maybe Rickey should have tested against a stock 06-07......the REAL powerhouses

I don't know what you are worried about - my 2012 ZX-14R only made 173 RWHP And that was with TB carbon V.A.L.E. slip ons and P1X power tips.

Then again on the same day & same dyno a BMW S1000RR with an akrapovic pipe and PCV made 175 RWHP so perhaps that dyno just read a little low.

IMO if you are over 180HP and still 100% stock you should be happy.

It counts, it is part of the area under the curve which is more important than just the peak power.

that explains 11,000+ RPM shift chips and ecu flashed rev extenders .. so the power under the curve really doesn't matter then i guess

That doesn't make sense. Of course it counts, you extend the revs and you get more area under the curve because the new curve is larger.

My 07 with a ported head,47mm TB's , degree'd cams , milled .020" ,Brock's sidewinder(baffle out)MR12 made 186hp with 104ftlbs torque. I think the new 14r is a bad mofo out the crate. They all seem to be making 180+ HP stock and that's nothing to be ashamed of.

my 06 was dynoed on pump gas and a muzzy pipe @189 rwhp ..i rode the bike there to watch a friend dyno and tune his bike for the texas mile .. just for the hell of it they ran mine to compair his with a tsuhigi pipe and race gas and a few other odds and ends ..his best was a 185rwhp after tuning it. they also tuned a 50 shot afterwards ..the bike ran 200.2 mph at the mile on spray with a 230lb rider ..6 months or so later i stuck a brock smeg on mine and it dynoed a best of 191rwhp..an 08 busa came in while i was there they where new to the market then..it had a pipe and a PCV and bested a 186 rwhp.. the owner was pissed that my mostly stock zx14 out dynoed his 08 busa..when the magazines rumor was the 08 busa was the shittz on the dyno .. we both had pump gas and rode our bikes there 100 miles 1 way ... i broke my bike in hard from the moment it left the dealership to 50+k miles later when i sold it .. all the other guys babied theirs when new.. my 2002 zx12 was the same story never had an issue and rode the shit out of it for 38k miles ..

we have 3 guys here that run regularly with us and they all run the same times, if not a hair slower than mine. Granted, oneguy his bike and rider weight is 70lbs more than me, but he has a 12" swingarm to my extensions. Now his dad has ran it and got some very good numbers, but overall I'm not seeing the same numbers at our local track as I am online.

One thing I think everyone knows is that drag racing or roll racing- rider skill has alot to do with the outcome- hp will make a big difference if skill level/ bodyweight are comparable.

In the mean time, I'm going to continue beating up on beemers with my 06-

I would like to have a 2012 14, maybe later.
