Wheelie your the man but,for us guys who are NORMAL street riders and never go to the track i still think we should be putting out more horsepower out of a 1441 motor. And i TOTALLY agree with davej the power is everywhere on this bike its perfect,.......but lets face it we all care about peak power numbers thats why the new 14 is soooo popular right now not because of low down power but because of what the magazines are showing about PEAK POWER.

Gotta say you lost me with your last statement, weather or not the bmw has less TQ does not mean his 14 has more power overall. hp is hp and TQ is TQ. Until he puts out more then the 197 hp the beemer did he still has less power.

He'll have more power in the narrow band his bike is designed to produce it. Everywhere else, it's toast.

I do think this is a bullshit thread. Comments don't add up. I smell faeces.

Stop worring what everyone else does or doesn't make on a dyno ... Mine only made 197 with a pipe with 75 miles on the bike and stock oil .. It still ran 8.52 in the 1/4 mile .. Seen any BMWs run 8.52 with nothing but a pipe lately ? Didn't think so ...
And my friend if you have been reading the threads aroud here you would have read where Brock said " Don't dyno the bike with 38 PSI in the tire , 30 psi needs to be used to get the numbers " Brock picked up some where around 7 to 8 HP just dropping the tire pressure ... You may not think it spinning but it is .. Roaring toys bike had the same problem till they dropped the PSI in the tire ... My 197 was with 42 in the tire , i could have been over 200 if i had know that at the time ..

Yeah lucky14 the new 14 in stock form scares the shit out of me,its been around 55-60 degrees out and i only weigh 169 and this thing is crazy up top even in 3rd going in the 4th near redline thats why i was really disapointed with the dyno pull i thought mine was a ringer, like a 190+

Does it matter if it is 185 or 195 HP... As u said above this bike scare the shit out of you and you cant even use all the power.. so what does it matter... You guys make yourself miserable over thIS HP war

Well i know for a fact tire psi does make a difference ... Roys big 1530 motor that makes the same HP as mine blows off the tire on my dyno unless we dropped the psi below 30 .. Seen it , been there , done that ..

you also know by leaning 1 out on a dyno you get better hp numbers .. may run like shitt at the track but that dyno sheet looks good ...

Alot of folks forget, or don't realize that rpm's produce hp, the higher you can wind up a motor the more PEAK hp it can make. If you could wind a 14R up just as high as the BMW the 14 would kill it in PEAK hp. But because of metallurgy limits, bigger, heavier parts can only be spun so fast before they come apart. You could mathematically figure out how much a 14R would produce if it could spin as high as the beemer though. But no matter how much technology progresses material wise, the liter bikes will always have an edge in rpm's because of much less reciprocating mass. Going up in size will never give you an equal amount of power gained for that reason.

That is the science behind why an almost 1500cc bike doesn't make 1/3 more power than a 1000
Now that you have the science you just have to appreciate the other benefits of a bigger motor, like the massive torque and available grunt at almost all rpm's. And the bigger bikes are still the kings of the strip, even though they're not able to put out that 33.3% more hp than the 1000's like alot of folks think they should lol.Plus in the end mod for mod you'll still out hp the 1000's.

And when it all shakes out bigger really still is better

Gixxer, excuse me if you already answered this but how much air was you running in your rear tire, I picked up 8hp by dropping from 40 to 27psi.

hey rickey i was running 38psi,i want to keep tire pressure on what i run on the street,by the way u use to dyno my bikes at your old shop which is now a 7-11!! hey rickey how the hell did u dyno 30 more horsepower on a no mile new 14 with break in oil, over a worn in gen1 14,u must of had a ringer, and the gen1 must of had low low power,on my dyno i pulled only 15 more horses, and my had 500 miles and amsoil, and the gen1 was ran at 99 degree weather, and mine was today at 45 degree weather.

i need to get on rickeys dyno!! what it seems are guys like rickey know all the tricks to get really good dyno #'s i dont want to drop the tire pressure really low to have a higher number im sure they didnt lower their tires.no wonder im pissed all the pros get great numbers using all these dyno tricks and we see these great numbers and then when average joe buys a bike and dynos it normaly we get pissed. I bet 90% of people drive these bikes with maybe exhaust and pc,not all this 0wt oil,mr12 gas stuff,so 90%of us will not ever see these crazy numbers.....................................but i still friggen LOVE this bike i hope that doesn't get lost in all of this, like i said it is the best bike iv'e owned. The power it puts out is all really need its just when i watched rickey video of him putting out 30 more horsepower than the bike i JUST SOLD im REALLY PISSED OFF when mine pulls 15 horses less.

Man, are you reading what anyone is posting? You made 15 more hp than gen1.. He gained 8more hp by letting tire pressure out of rear. That makes 23hp more. I'm sure there are a few other tricks to gain a few more hp.
Why do you feel the need to Run the same pressure as on the street? That would be like saying I'm going to run 38 psi next time I go to the track because that's what I run on the street.
It just doesn't make sense.

really eklipse ur not getting me,because the guy who dynos the bikes puts them all at 38psi so if i lower mine, its not a fair comparsion, and thats what i want.like i just said rickey video is what killed me when he put out 30 more horses than gen1 14 i just sold and my new 15000 bike only beat it by 15. beating a bike by 30 horses is a WHOLE different world than only 15 horses...agree? and by the way if u watch the video he says a couple of times that both bikes have 36 psi????

A fair comparison would be not spinning on the dyno, your bike puts out way more torque than those other bikes so at the same air pressure it will tend to spin on the rollers and also if its not tied down enough. Why would u kill your hp to be fair? you wanna see what your bike does at best so if u were racing on the street or strip and started spinning wouldn't you lower tire pressure to hook? I would think so
