zx14 Temp ?
I'm new to the zx14 I've always had busa's and gsxr but I really like my 14. I just got it a month ago and milled the head a little and put engine ice in it. I've rode it a few times now and noticed that it has 6 bars on the temp gauge. After 5 minutes its at 3-4 bars and at lights it gets to 5 and even was at 5 for a little while when riding? Is this normal? If so is there anything I can do to get it a little lower?

temps rise while you at stops..... once you get moving they drop... they really drop when you are on expressway/freeway/interstate cause of the speed... you force more air to the engine. but if they keep rising to high then something may be wrong. make sure your full in your radiator

Mine has a Competition SS head and 47mm throttle bodies. Most I ever see is 4 bars. Track or street. Make sure your fan is turning on. Mine is on after the 4th bar has been on for a bit.

I don't have stock exhaust, I have full muzzy system and milled head with degreed cams. Runs great but always 4-5 bars after just a couple minutes? Fan comes on at 4th bar. Does someone still make a second fan kit for it?

You can add the 2nd fan from a concourse 14 and spice it in to your stock fan they will come on at 4 bars but will cool faster or you can run it off a switch but then you have to remember to turn it on and off!

Just because the overflow tank is full doesn't mean that the radiator doesn't have some air in it. I would get one of the vacum kits on the market and re-do the filling procedure as you sure seem to be running too hot. I had an 07 with a milled head and some other goodies and it would never get as hot as you are saying. Radiators can be pesky things to deal with.

Well I found my problem. When we installed the motor somehow the 2 small hoses at the top of the radiator were switched. The top one was going back to the t-stat instead of to the overflow tank. Switched them today and road for over an hour and the only time I hit 4 bars was at a 4 minute stop light and it went right back to 3 after I started riding again.

I love it when it's something simple. I'm hoping this bike won't run hot like my '06 tended to.
