NHRA motorcycle racing is bought and paid for by Harley. Its a joke. Vtwin technology is an oxymoron like jumbo shrimp.

Trouble is guys that the playing field is not level at all. Here are some facts:
The Harleys were given the displacement advantage(1600cc for the Suzukis vs 2600cc's for the HD's) because they had pushrods and I stress had. The engine pictured is an S & S V Twin. This is like the motor that George Bryce had to build which I think you have to build more than 30 of them and they have to be made available to other race teams, you just can't build a motor and have a spare available to be allowed to race. Here is where its gets interesting. That is not the motor that Vance & Hines is using in their Vrod. Their motors are OHC and not available to anyone else but them. So they take advantage of the displacement break because of pushrods that they dont have any longer and they don't have to make their engines available to other race teams. The Vrod engine is totally one off casting with no lineage to a factory engine. The rules apply to some but not to VHR. George Bryce has stated on other web pages he has the money available and he wants to but a VRod engine, why can't he?

Brooklyn, thanks for the information. Well the results are in, and yes the number one qualifier won the race. I'm pretty sure if NHRA does nothing about the rules, there won't be any in-line four bangers left in the race by the end of the year. But I think that would be a good thing. then the delusional Harley riders wouldn't have anything to crow about. But I'm pretty sure that's the way NHRA wants it.

NHRA prostock is only surviving because its riding on the coat tails of the other NHRA pro classes. It could never stand on its own.

What we need is a real prostock class. One where you have to run factory castings..... cases and head from whatever brand.

That would be a real prostock class.

NHRA P/S is all politics and money and is a disgrace. That's why no one in the real motorcycle drag racing world even cares about it.
Walk around a mirock event and ask people what they think about NHRA prostock...... its about as relevant to production bikes as prostock cars are to factory cars.

thanks Jim for that comment, this whole thing makes it hard to trust any of the classes in NHRA. If one class is for sale! .then what's going on in the others. I guess with ever circus you have to have clowns. but I will tell you who is not clowning around, ADRL. They have taken most of IHRA business and is working on NHRA. it is the new Wal-Mart of drag racing, a third of the price of admission. And runs more cars and bikes like you might see at your local track.

Even bigger joke was watching NHRA sunday to hear announcer bill the pro stock bikes "full throttle pro stock motorcycle racing". Doesn't get anymore sold out than that.
