new chain and sprockets

Just got my chain and sprockets put on yesterday! There was a misunderstanding in our communication(shop owner and I). I told him I wanted a 16 tooth front and 42 tooth rear. I was written 17 and 41. I explained that was stock and I wanted -1 up front and +1 out back. The guy ordered stock configuration and installed them.
The guy was going to reorder the parts I want at no extra cost to me and I cud ride my bike until the parts arrive.
His mechanic talked me into keeping the fornt(17 tooth) the way it is and just go up in the rear. ....so I agreed and not the bike will have 17 tooth in the front and a 43 tooth in the rear.
...but wait there's more! The blue 43 tooth sprocket is on back order! He said go on and ride your bike and when it comes in I will calll you and we will install the new part.

I'm now running a Kawasaki 16 tooth (KHI OEM part # 13144-1317) rubber cushioned front sprocket on my 2012 14R - and loving it!!!

I'll NEVER use one of those cheap and noisy steel front sprockets ever again - absolutely no comparison to a quality item.

The Kawi 16 t is still better than the vortex? Is that where the whining noise comes into effect with the vortex front sprocket?

Well if your not using a quality rubber cushioned front sprocket then get ready for a constant whine.

Some people say that the steel sprocket whining noise doesn't bother them, but it sure bothered me.

+1 get one, it will add torque and it's only about $35. I have one on mine for years and I love it!
