Electric vs air shifter
What is the difference in performance between an electric shifter vs an air shifter?

So what makes the air shifters better? I've seen guys have alot of problems with them.

price. but i would rather have electric if the charging system can handle the amprage draw from shifts

That's what I was wondering if was a price issue, because its less equipment to hook up and less maintenance

at $800.00 vs $300.00 for a air shifter kit..
but the electric is about flawless .. no worrys on air supply or leaks

I have had both Pingle electric and an air shifter. The Pingle electric has shift up and down buttons although I rarely used the down button. The air I had an auto shift option that would let it shift by itself and a pre determined rpm which is very nice for drag racing. It has been a long time for the electric and I don't remember whether I had that option with the Pingle which is expensive but saves room without having to have an air tank, pump and the plumbing. I liked both when I had them.

There is also a Dale Walker one that uses a cable that goes for around 640 too

I ran a Holeshot Powershifter 3 (DAle Walker) on my '03 R1. Worked flawlessl;y. Just have to remember to turn it on. On a ZX14, you'll have trouble finding a place for the big solenoid. That's why I went air on my ZX14.

So the cable worked fine? How big is the solenoid? Was thinking it could be mounted somewhere where the rectifier is

i have had the dale walker pc3 for close to 10 years on my 2000 zx12r.i love it.i think dale should get the Nobel peace award for creating it.,,,,on the zx14r i think the solenoid could be mounted on the outside of the bike.the right side cut out by the luggage mount bolt area.i would then get somebody to fabricate a cover and paint it the same color as the bike.if it fits in there it would work like a champ.i studied the blue one in a dealer and became transfixed on that bike.......blue for me...........

I had the pingle electric and it worked really well. only thing is it had trouble shifting the bike after I installed the spray bar. It shifted perfect except where it was on spray. I tried to adjust it to where it would shift but I think it was just under to much load from the spray and it just did not have enough power. swaped to a c02 airshifter and it was fine. this was with an R&D race cut trans. But on the street just on motor the pingle was great. Just a little big hanging on the left side.
