Risers and handling

Per an earlier thread of mine, I decided to go ahead and give the 3/4" Heli Riser blocks a try, (cheap enough) and always up for something easy to play with. The first set of blocks did not fit and in fact got stuck. Heli had over powder coated them and promptly replaced them to me with a set that did indeed slip right on. I like how they feel, no drastic bar height increase like so many C14 users do, (2 inch hikes etc), keeps a nice stock look, and don't seem to have any negative impact on handling, but I'm curious as to how others feel about them. Who uses them? Who has used them and removed them and why? Anyone feel they affect handling on the bike one way or the other?
Thanks

Have them on my 07 for 3.5+ years so far. Best 89 bucks I ever spent. No handling issues at all.

I've got 'em on mine too... If anything I feel like I have more control of the bike. It's like the marginally more upright position makes for better weight distribution therefore slightly crisper handling. Not to mention better ergos.

I also have the Sargent seat and throttlemeisters and I can't wait for the warmer weather to come so I can do some sport touring. BTW the seat while being more comfortable is also more supportive so when you whack open the throttle you feel much more planted and less like the bike is trying to drive out from under you.

I have the LSL handlebar conversion that replaces the upper triple tree and allows the use of regular handlebars. I had them on my 07 ZX14 and now installed them on the 14R. I love them and they don't affect handling at all. They did take some messing around to get them to fit the 14R but I got it to work.

Guess LSL's work for some but for me the ZX14 is supremely comfortable as is, and the 3/4" risers make it just a bit more so. I couldn't imagine swapping out the whole bar setup on this bike.

You might be able to imagine it when you are 67yrs old with a bad back but still have the need for ultimate speed. LOL

Yes I might. I respect your "working it out" in order to stick with your passion vs moving to a slower more comfortable bike. I meant no disrespect whatsoever.

None taken, I also have the "slower" more comfotable ride as well. 2008 Suzuki BKing, sit up bike with Busa motor and for the extra long trips 2005 Goldwing. I have the bases covered.

Any way I can get some pics of your 2012 14R BobK? And perhaps what you modded to get it to fit?

I am trying to decide between a smoking deal on a leftover 11 14 and a 12 14R and I def want the handlebar conversion.

Thanks

Personally, the 2012 14R is so much better bike I wouldn't care what they were selling the older bike for. IT IS THAT MUCH BETTER! PM me your email and I will send some photos of the bars. I had to modify the ignition lock housing by grinding it to make it fit. The new ign. housing is mounted at a forward angle and the old one was straight down so the old LSL top tree makes the housing too close to the steering head. Maybe they have changed it by now.

you can send them to stumpdeals@gmail.com

my dealer wants to move the 11 obv no 12's in stock.

emailed me yesterday said if they get me a new one it will be msrp plus freight, set up, tax etc...

called a dealer another 25 mins away...14,500 out the door, said he'd honor the price even if he sold the black one he had and had to get me one from somewhere else.

That price is too high. Do a search here and see what others have paid. I will send the pictures.

I think the forum doesn't allow PMs until you have a certain number of posts. I sent the photos.
