14R cam chain tensioner

I have an 09 14, and am about to add a new 14R to the stable. I understand the new 14R has a revised cam chain tensioner that eliminates the cold-start rattle. Does anyone know if the new 14R tensioner will fit the previous year bikes?

Well after looking a little I see a few listed (aftermarket) that state ZX14 06-12, BUT you cant be 100% certain the 12 will fit in the 06.... Carpenter racing has one that many people have used with great success, modified from a ZX12 I believe. Others have used the APE one also with great success.

I have a modified ZX12 cam chain tensioner from Competition CNC. It works great and there is no noise. There phone number is 860-274-0631 and ask for Jim.

I did not have good luck with Competition CNC.... Called him a few times to get the throttle bodies on my 07, left a message on his machine, never got a call back. Called back then he said that he did not take American Express (REALLY?), had to call him back with visa when I got home... Left a message again and never heard back from him. Sorry but if your too damn busy to return my call then I will find some other company to patronize.... I am sure he really does not give a shit about my $575 but it's just the principal with me.

for 06-011 zx14s buy any year zx12r cam chain tensioner take it to any machine shop have them cut .0125 thou off the seat, take home reinstall, done. cct of ebay or a salvage yard shouldnt cost more than 30-50 bux and the machine service 10-20 bux, free if you have a friend in the business.

Never had anything but good experiences with Jim. He did two heads for us, plus practically unlimited phone support. Sorry you had a bad experience, but it doesn't seem like the norm...

Put the Ape on mine when the stocker started to shit. Competition was out of stock with the zx12 conversion & wanted a butt load for it besides. So far only adjusted it on install & still quite.
