i use to have the same problem. until i put a heat shield on it to keep the exhaust heat off of it .. 1 pump lasted 2 years .. before the shield i went thru 6 pumps in 1 year .. i haven't tried it yet but i'm gonna try to run the oil line without the pump and see what happens next time ..

ok .but i don't think thats enough if you got it mounted in front of the pulse cover.. i had to cut a piece of sheet metal to form of the hole or gap between engine and front fairing to cover the turbo.. and then drill a hole into it to mount it to 1 of the turbo header flange bolts .. it gets gool air when riding and blocks heat at idle and riding

I'm not sure what pump you guys are running and it's dimensions & output are but below is a couple pictures of a Tilton pump that I've been using on my turbo ZRX for over 5 years without a hitch.

Don't know if it would even work in your application but I thought I'd make a post since it sounds like your not having much luck in what you're using.

Reliable pump, and not badly priced , but there big
I use a VDO oil pump, there a small EFI pump style, about the size of 2 d cell batteries but made to pump oil from car gearboxes to oil coolers ,
examples here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECTRIC-OIL-SCAVANGE-PUMP-VDO-DIFF-GEARBOX-TURBO-/260871927439?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cbd2db68f

Expensive but small and reliable

The turbo is mounted too low, so it won't flow back into the crankcase very well. It's not that it won't flow back in, but it simply builds too much pressure in the turbo, and blows the oil right past the turbo oil seals. Your bike starts eating oil, plus it pushes it out the exhaust. Adams sells one that sells for about $300 if i remember correctly.

Hello 1badzx12r. In the sake of saving myself from the mud youre about to drag me in. First off, the two bikes in the photos are built by me. Guess what, they haul a** and are reliable. But back to the point and facts. The black bike that is smoking like a train at idle is due to the fact that the customer removed the line I had installed and replace it with a pretty braided one that was too long and had a mild kink. I was at that race hating to see that myself. With regards to the puff of smoke from chads green bike, that is not uncommon with the amount of oil used in his moto (almost six quarts). That puts the oil level pretty close to the center line of the turbo. So with that being said, you may have that puff of smoke on the hit, or during burnout. In my opinion, the proper oiling of that motor, seriously outweigh the astetics of that puff of oil. BTW, those are not street kits on either of those two bikes. With regards to my street kits, they have no drain issues due to the fact that the header pulls the turbo up so high that is has plenty of fall. The street kits use much phsically smaller turbos (gt28), where the race kits are using big gt35/30 turbo with cut oil pans. All of these things come into factor. If we are going to make comparisons, lets compare apples to apples and have the facts. With regards to the scavenge pumps, they work fine; however my mind set is that it is one more item that my cause failure. That is something I don't won't to face after traveling a 1000 miles to a race and going out early due to mechanical failure. The pump that comes in the Cycle Logic kits need to be wired where it only runs when the engine is running to prevent premature failure. I have used those pumps before, with mixed results. Some lasted, others did not. Just being truthful. There are some other scavenge pumps on the market that are available, but they are a little pricey. Thats my 2 cents and an attempt to salvage my name from the deep forum mud pits. Sincerely, Chris Jones
