What Gen are we calling the 14r?

I always considered '08 to '11 to be the Gen 2, '06-'07 were Gen 1. Some people never thought of the 14 as having significant enough change between 07 and 08 to call it a new generation. Obviously the 2012 is a new generation.

What is it 2 or 3? I can't stand saying "2012 to present" for the next few years. I'll go nuts.

Good point Rook, I've been pondering the same thing.

Most of us have gotten use to calling the '06 & '07's the 1st gen and the later ones the second gen.

I vote to keep it like that and just call the 2012 model the R........

LOL -------------I got flamed for saying, "Gen 2". I was afraid to even think about calling the 14r Gen 3!

To make matters worse, there is an exhaust called the Gen 3. People will be saying things like, "I loved the Gen 3 on my Gen 1 so much that I put a Gen 3 on my gen 3, too!?\"

What's wrong with calling the 2012 ZX-14R the 3rd generation?

I personally consider all of the 06-11 models 1st gen. The changes were not huge, like you saw in the 1st-2nd Gen Busa. The 1st gen Busa had quite a few changes over the years, while keeping the same appearance. But you can easily tell the difference between a Gen 1 and Gen 2.

In the USA at least, we are dealing with a 1st gen ZX-14R.

I agree, no bodywork change from 2006-2011, 2012 we have a change, that's a gen 2,

Since basically any part from the ground up is interchangeable from '06-'11, I definitely think the 2012 should be considered the Gen 2.

Kawi made it out to be the next gen in 08 but I am agreeing that was PR.

Hence forward, I'm going with Gen 1 for 06-11 and Gen 2 for 2012-present.
