Shane,

If the individual injection wires are two wires, connected to the injector, the zx10 will work.
It reminds me of the GSXR1k connection.

shoot me a pic or post one

I have been told that it is more or less plug and play for the 2011 ZX-10R PC. I just ordered one and should have it within a day. I'll let you guys know how the install goes.

Today's update, the ECU is on it's way to back to Guhl Motors:

When it returns it will have 100 more rpm on top (+500 over stock), and the secondary throttle plates will be open by around 3600 rpm, compared to 5500. I wanted to get data in that rpm range before making the change, and I did so on Sunday.

I also took one more day off of work to get all of this done. Now I have Thursday to prep the bike. The PCV should be here tomorrow.

Shane:

Your methodical testing of whatever part/tune that enhances the performance of a 14/14R is along with the strip testing done by Wheelie, Smokin, and others, what makes this ZX14.com site just a incredible resource for all of us who appreciate the ZX14/14R for the amazing bike it is. By the time I get my 14R later this year, you guys will have done most of the heavy lifting getting it dialed in.

Thanks bro,

Leo

Thanks man! I wish I could go to the track...

Right now it is 31F, with winds gusting to 30 mph (19F wind chill)....even if I rented a lane, I couldn't race today....

I will get this bike to the track as soon as weather allows, so everyone can see what it does in "average" hands.

Cold sucks...

Shane:

Normally we are smug down here in Florida in January, but as I type this its...35 degrees here bro. Anyway, happy wrenching and I bet you will do more than ok when it warms up enough to make a trip to the track.

Hey Guys,

Here is a proper test of Don's ECU:

The weather is fantastic, hence our .99 SAE correction factor and the 194 base power reading. But it only took 3 minutes for me to plug the ECU in and retest.

Brock,

What was actually done to your ECU? I notice the limiter was extended by a few hundered.
Anything else?

I believe that Brock's ecu is +500 rpm over stock, with the same timing map mine is using. I believe that the secondaries also open sooner with his ecu. These are the same mods that mine will have. I didn't want to change too many things at once, so I didn't have all of the changes done up front. I should get my ecu back from Guhl tomorrow, for more testing on Friday.

Shane and/or Brock,

What would be the difference in performance (1/8 mile) with the ecu change?

Well, the +500 rpm would give you a little more room, gearing-wise. You could gear it a bit shorter (torque multiplication), and not have to worry about making a shift or hitting the limiter right at the lights. That is the big advantage of this extended rpm setup, imo. More gearing options, and more power at the shift recovery rpm.

As far as the rest, well, I think we will see more power down low with the quicker secondary opening, and some hp from the timing advance. I can't put an ET number on the gain, but these are all positive things, imo.

How much timing did you advance? 2 to 5 degrees?

It is all in the code, and much more precise than a bolt-on advancer. I am pretty dumb about this stuff, Guhl could tell you more.

One of the biggest advantages is available power after the shift. By shifting at a higher RPM, you will naturally fall back into a higher power level on the curve after the gear drop. With the stock exhaust, it's not a big deal, but once our pipe is added (and the power keeps climbing towards the rev limiter without 'nosing over'), much larger overall average power gains in the higher RPM range will be noticed to help accelerate the vehicle.

I've been reading this thread with great interest. Here in the UK we don't get our bikes until the end of the month, so read is all I can do at the moment. Does anyone know if Ghul Motors will be able to reflash ecu's for customers outside of the USA?

Something I saw recently was the Throttle Buddy which plugs into the loom where the secondary butterfly servo motor normally plugs in, allowing complete removal of the flies, the motor and all the linkage. Has anyone tried this on a 14 yet?

I have a question about the secondaries. Why not open them at 1500 rpms? Why wait until 3600 etc?

I have been writing and waiting on this forum for about 4 years now waiting and waiting and waiting for any news on the ZX14 06/07/08/09 ECU reflash........but NOTHING.

People have been promising for years to be working on a reflash for the zx14 ecu where you can adjust fuel and ignition maps, adjust MAP sensor compensations for boost etc etc. but STILL NOTHING.

Now we have a bike that just came out and are being told that the reflash for its ecu is already available???

Can someone enlighten me PLEASE??

We had Guhl extend the revs and remove the speed limiter on Racheal's ecu, last year. I think they can do more than that to the Gen 1 ECU. Have you called them to check?

Are you talking about a the ability to do it yourself? That is a different product/service and I have no idea on the ETA for that. Right now I am just focusing on what they can do with the 14R ECU.
