Approximate Sidestand Weight
The big clubby lookin adjustable sidestands that most people seem to favor weigh 2.0 lbs according to what is published spec for Myrtle West.
I got a reply from Muzzy and there much trimmer looking adjustable sidestand---still ~1.5-2 lbs for shipping!!
If you have ever removed the stem part of the OEM side stand, please tell me what you think it weighed. I can't believe it would be over 2 lbs so why the aircraft aluminum ones coming on at such a hefty weight.
I was thinking this would be a nice looking weight loss mod but my bike isn't lowered and prolly never will be. I don't need adjustable just light weight.

not in the contents but found it ----very nice thread, hear of it often can't believe I have not been referring to it ALL the time.

Stock 1 lb. 2.2 oz.
Billet 10.6 oz.
The stock piece is amazingly heavy...

I can't imagine it would be any heavier than 2 lbs. That must be some kind of super steel.
That helps a lot and might well save me $100. Thank you Shane.
How did the Spencer Cycle kickstand work for stock height? Was one of the 5 adjustments proper for a safe lean when parked?

I'm always extremely particular about weight of mods. A littledisappointing to buy a replacement part if it is not lighter (like my rearsets) than stock. I'll take a weight loss no matter where I ride the bike but it saw a track day last summer and will see more next spring.

......actually, most of the track riders don't have a kickstand at all so I'd consider that a "MOSTLY" street mod.

I never tried it at stock height...but it has several adjustment levels. I used it on the lowest one.

Try removing your mirrors, they will have more of an effect than saving 1 lb off of your kickstand.

already have done that. over 2 lbs of weight off way up top. after a fullsystem, nothing grabs me by the throat as far as weight reduction goes but the mirrors were noticeable.
put some mirror caps on. I totally got reamed on these. Paid about $60 on Ebay for them (wish I could remeber the seller) and they are some crappy spray painted junk I should have sent back . You can get polished billet for ~$10.
Put these CRGs on to stay street legal. They come off easy for track riding and they show about as much view area as the stockers. One would work just fine but two is a bit safer viewing. Admit that i do have to look down a bit to see them but the upside is that they are functional when I am flat on the tank.

I'll keep my mirrors and my centerstand but need a battery soon might try lithium. Hows that for senseble? Best feeling diff for the street I've found is a low fuel tank.

lemme give you my honest opinion. I have a 14 ah Shorai. Really couldn't tell much change in the feel of the bike. 1.5 lbs v 11 lbs but handles about the same. Wouldn't have known the dif if I didn't change out the stock battery myself. That's what I mean "nothing grabs me by the throat" after loosing the OEM exhaust. I am planning to get a set Tri-R wheels soon and I am anticipating that like a new bike feeling again.
I like the Shorai. The 14 Ah performs same as the stocker. drops some low riding weight. At this point, it takes several weight reduction mods to add up before I can tell the dif by the seat of my pants. That's why every little bit of weight counts.

If you look in my old thread you will see almost every component weighed, even the engine, lol. While you may not want to use all of the ideas/mods that I did, it will give you a good idea of what is heavy on the bike. For example, the weight of stock and aftermarket rearsets are in the thread.

Yep, I can't believe the hours i have spent trying to figure this stuff out and guess at stuff or get the info from somebody else when there is a huge compendium of ZX-14 mods right here. I heard people talk about it but I never went to look at it myself.
I will post links for people in the future. Thank you for documenting all of that great information, Shane. Hope you will leave it up for a long time. Lots of us are hanging onto our Gen 1s for a while.
BTW, the Vortex rearsets are just a tab bit heavier than stock peg/rearsets. I like how they look. they do increase lean angle clearance (a lot more because the pegs are shorter than because of the max height adjustmnet) . $250. Gonna keep em.
