I never had the fly's installed in my bike. Dan took them out before I bought it. It doesn't seem to be missing anything in the way it runs. Yes, my bike was mapped for no fly's too.

I had an '06 and pulled them! Then I got an '08 SE and left them in. Very little difference. The '08 and newer opens them up faster.
I had my Brocks SS exhaust on it and it was strong!
I never used it for the 1/8 th though but at the track your never below 6500 rpm anyway right?

I pulled them on my 09 and I think it's good to do.I have a Brocks Alienhead.Have the race map flies out map.It runs great down low especially with the 16/43 sprockets.I'd do it again.

I have 08. Ran about 5000 miles with flies in. Not a big dif with them pulled. Mapped for flies out and noticed no big change in low end power. The main dif was that the little zing you feel at 3.5K rpm where the extra fuel comes on will smooth out. That is a good enough reason to do it but don't expect you are gonna have a whole new bike because you remove flies on an 08-11.

If you decide to pull them, do not take this litely. Leave plenty of time, get the right size screwdriver, preferrably new, and work slowly. If you drop a screw you are in for a long day, if you strip the screw head you are in for an even longer day.

^^brand new #2 phillips with 9" shaft. Black grit coated tip even better. Spend 9-10$--don't get a cheapy.

I used a Burnzomatic to get mine very hot. I guess a soldering gun woks well to heat the screws too.
I held a magnet tool to the screwdriver shaft so that the screws would stick to it. Problem is everything else also sticks to it.

I doubt very much that the screws could fall past the primaries which lay directly below. The primaries are held shut by a pretty stiff spring so they will not pull or push open under light pressure. You should be able to pick a screw off of there if it drops past the secondary you are removing. BUT be careful anyway. Why test the theory?
